🌟✨ We had a very special visitor today… Maisy the Speech and Language Therapy Cat! ✨🌟

Today we were delighted to welcome the wonderful Maisy for a visit! 💛 While Maisy was with us for something completely unrelated, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to share a little about her very important role as a Speech and Language Therapy Cat.

Therapy animals like Maisy can have such a positive impact, helping people to feel calm, supported and more confident. Animals can reduce anxiety, encourage communication and connection, and bring comfort in ways that make a real difference.

Maisy works alongside her human mum, Hazel, who helps people with their speech, language and communication needs. Together, they support people in building confidence, developing communication skills and creating positive experiences through speech and language therapy. 🐱✨

A message from Maisy’s mum, Hazel:

“Maisy has worked alongside me in my Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Practice in Warndon Villages since I adopted her in 2020. She has a phenomenal instinct with the children I work with and is exceptionally friendly, inquisitive and placid in nature. She genuinely seems to love being around children and naturally gravitates towards them when she senses they may need a little extra support or reassurance.

She will often sit calmly beside a child or gently nudge them to encourage interaction, helping sessions feel more relaxed, engaging and fun. Children are incredibly drawn to her and she has a wonderful way of helping them feel at ease without ever being intrusive or overwhelming.

Maisy is also very responsive and happily follows simple commands such as “sit” and “come”, which further supports children’s engagement and interaction during sessions.

Maisy has become an integral part of my therapy set-up and a hugely valued member of the team. I honestly could not imagine doing this work without her.

I would also highly recommend Ambleside Vets, who have always taken great care of Maisy. They have consistently been kind, supportive and attentive and I have complete trust in the care they provide her.”

We absolutely loved having Maisy visit us today — she certainly brought lots of smiles! Thank you for stopping by, Maisy and Hazel 💕

As Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible veterinary nurses who make such a difference every single day 💚

Veterinary nurses do so much more than many people realise. From monitoring anaesthetics during surgery, running nurse clinics, taking blood samples and X-rays, caring for hospitalised patients, and assisting in emergencies — to comforting nervous pets (and their worried owners!), giving medications, providing rehabilitation support, and offering endless cuddles when they’re needed most.

They are often the calm voice in stressful moments, the reassuring face for anxious pets, and the helping hands behind so much of the care your beloved companions receive.

To all veterinary nurses — thank you for your compassion, dedication, patience, and hard work. We truly couldn’t do it without you 🐾💚

🐾 Up next is Jess for Veterinary Nurse Awareness month! 🐾

Jess qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2021, although she began her nursing journey back in 2017.

She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, but especially loves caring for dogs and bunnies!

At home, Jess has three dogs of her own — Olive the cockerpoo, Basil the sprollie and Merlot the sprocker — who certainly keep her busy.

In her free time, she loves going on holiday and scuba diving, or simply enjoying long countryside walks with her crazy dogs. 🐶💙

This is Sarah!

Sarah has been with us since September 2025, and considers herself our very own cat whisperer! She loves all things cats, from geriatric to misunderstood feisty kitties♥️

Sarah has previously worked at a number of practices, one of which being referral hospital care, which gave her a deeper insight to anaesthetic analgesia and postoperative care!🏥 Some of her favourite aspects of being a nurse are patient care, circulating nursing and microscopic analysis.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her newly titled husband, Liam, her beautiful FIV+ rescue cat, Alma, and loves to practice nail art, painting and a little bit of polymer clay!🎨

I’m sure most of you have met our lovely nurse Bridie. For Veterinary Nurse Awareness day 2! Let me tell you a bit about her.

Bridie has worked for The Worcester Vet group since May 2015 starting as a student vet nurse until she graduated with a VN degree at Hartpury in October 2016.

During her years in practice she has been a clinical coach, ran puppy clinics and taken a particular interest in laboratory and diagnostics within the clinic from blood work, microscopy, xray and ultrasound.

“Being a veterinary nurse is very rewarding with everything we get to do behind the scenes from monitoring anaesthetics, assisting vets, patient recovery, administration of medications, interaction with clients and of course all the cuddles!”

When she’s not at work she likes to spend time with the families horses Lily and Ozzie and taking 10 year old German Shepherd Barney for a play around the fields, or curled up watching a film with her cats Lenny and Pearl after a busy day.

We are very lucky to have a nurse like Bridie on our team and are grateful for the level of knowledge and expertise she brings.

Starting off the Veterinary Nurse awareness month strong with our one and only… *drum roll please 🥁*

✨Mari Griffith-Edgell RVN CertHE VNS✨

Mari is the Head Veterinary Nurse at The Worcester Vet Group and has been a member of the team since joining full-time in June 2006, following an earlier period of work experience in 2005.

Many of our clients have had the pleasure of seeing Mari progress from student veterinary nurse to her current leadership role.

As Head Nurse, Mari oversees the majority of the practice’s insurance claims and plays a key role in developing policies and managing processes. Despite her busy schedule behind the scenes, she is always happiest when she can get involved with hands-on nursing duties.
Mari particularly enjoys the surgical side of veterinary nursing and loves scrubbing in to assist during procedures. However, her greatest passion lies in caring for recovering patients, making sure they receive plenty of comfort and reassurance during their stay. It’s not unusual to find her curled up beside a poorly pup or an ill kitty, offering some much-
needed TLC.

Outside of work, Mari is a trustee for a local animal welfare charity, where she helps organise and run fundraising events to support animals in need.

At home, Mari is kept firmly in line by her very stubborn Beagle, who was rescued from a puppy farm after being used for breeding. They love exploring the outdoors together. 🐶

Stay tuned to see which fabulous RVN it will be tomorrow! 💚

🐾💚It’s Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month! 💚🐾

This month is all about celebrating the incredible work veterinary nurses do every single day to care for your beloved pets. From comforting nervous patients and assisting in surgery, to monitoring anaesthetics, nurse clinics, giving treatments, supporting owners, and providing compassionate care during difficult moments - veterinary nurses are at the heart of everything we do. 🩺🐶🐱

Our nurses play such an important role in keeping your pets happy and healthy, often working behind the scenes to ensure every patient receives the very best care possible. No two days are ever the same, and their dedication, kindness, knowledge, and teamwork make a huge difference to both our patients and their owners every day.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing you to our wonderful nursing team one by one, sharing a little bit about them, their roles within the practice, and what they love most about veterinary nursing. 🐾✨

Stay tuned to get to know the amazing faces behind the scrubs! 💚

Three peas in a pod 🫛

These three adorable brothers visited us today for their castrations and they were absolute stars from start to finish ⭐️

After plenty of cuddles, careful monitoring, and some well-earned rest together, they’re now recovering comfortably side by side (as you can see, moral support from your siblings really helps!).

We’re pleased to report these three did brilliantly and will be back home soon for some well-deserved pampering. 💙
