If you’re feeling the heat we’re currently experiencing, your dog will be too.
Dogs lose the majority of their body heat through radiating it to the air from their torso. Panting (evaporation) helps a bit but not as much as we think. We can help them shed excess fur and trim areas that give off heat to help them lose their body heat faster.

Book an appointment for hairy dogs, especially “double coated” dogs like Labradors, Collies, golden retrievers and spaniels. Hoomin parents are welcome to stay in our cool air conditioned salon too!!

Working Cocker Kiwi has never approved of being groomed, preferring to be doing forestry work with his dad and wallowing in a swamp. However, his fur gets so long he brings a lot of foliage home with him and it starts to mat his coat!
With a lot of carefully timed treats and fuss, a calming pheromone and his mum to assist me, we turned the shaggy mess into a slim, neat boy without too much arguing!

Sweet Rosie had her first furcut with me after going to another groomer as a pup and not having a nice time.
A lot of treats, fuss and a calm approach allowed me to turn the stress into tolerance and find a gorgeous, neat young Golden. Now with a lighter coat and less prone to pick up seeds and burrs.

Sweet little Meg - a lot tidier leaving the salon than coming in! The length of her fur will allow seeds and burrs to catch and cause problems so I took her body short without taking all her insulation from changing temperatures. Her shorter ears will also reduce the risk of undergrowth getting caught and also smelling by trailing in food

My own oldest dog, Thea, is expert at getting long fur and then getting various pieces of undergrowth trapped in it. A trim reduces this risk and really takes years off this old lady who will be 12 this year.

Wishing all our friends, two legged and four, a very Merry Christmas and a happy 2026! ❤️❤️

Dont forget that chocolate, dried fruit and poinsettias are toxic to dogs so keep them safe for me to see all of your gorgeous pooches next year 🥳

Handsome Kiwi (an all-black cocker spaniel) would rather be out with his hooman dad doing forestry work than having a furcut and wash in clean water and shampoo! Alas, his fur was too long and scruffy and matted in places with undergrowth catching up the fur. Despite arguing with us, he’s even more handsome and tidy!!
