Miso🐱🖤

Miso came in to see one of our Nurses for his monthly kitten weight check.
He was a superstar and was very interested in his dreamies and also the consultation room.

As well as receiving a check over by the Nurse, Miso also had a little manicure and a fuss. He is a sweet little chap🖤

If you would like to book in with one of our Nurses for your pet to have a weight check, nail trim, a**l gland expression or to enquire about the other services they offer, please contact the practice on 01905 355938 for more information.

Poor little Kola was an unexpected patient after suffering a cut to his paw.

Kola had to have a small procedure under general anaesthetic to stitch up the small wound on his paw pad. He was a very brave boy throughout. The first image is of Kola after his procedure.

Two days after the surgery (second and third photo), Kola came in for a post operative check and bandage change with one of nurses. As you can see, Kola has not let this little hiccup affect his mood as he was back to being his usual, bouncy self.

He came back 4 days after surgery for another dressing change and to check the wound is healing nicely in which it is. We are all glad that lovely Kola is on the road to a full recovery.❤️

Many people like to holiday with their pets. But it is important to follow safety precautions when travelling, especially during long distance journeys.🚗☀️

When traveling, using a special seatbelt can make sure that your pets are secure for the journey. You can also use harnesses, crates and boot luggage guards (however the guards will protect the passengers instead of the pets).

Please see below further tips regarding pet travel:

Tips to make car travel more comfortable:🐶
-Introduce travelling to your pet when they are young
-Give them time to digest their food before travel to avoid sickness
-Taking regular breaks during the journey
-Keeping them cool throughout
-Not letting dogs stick their heads out of the windows. They are at risk of being hit by stones, things on the side of the road or they could even fall.

Tips for traveling in hot weather:☀️
- Travel early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hottest points of the day
- Take plenty of water
- Regularly check the temperature
- Use cooling aids
-Stop regularly to check your pet
- Minimize time spent in car
-Keep the car cool
-NEVER LEAVE YOUR DOG ALONE IN A HOT CAR - THIS CAN BE FATAL.

If you would like further advice on travelling with your pet, please contact the practice where we can assist you and answer any queries.

The day is aimed at promoting the well-being of our feline friends as well as raising awareness of those who are in need of rehoming. It is also a day of showing our appreciation and sharing the love we have for them.

We would like to introduce you to Honey and Barley. Two adorable kittens who come monthly to see our nurses for a weight check. One of the many services our wonderful nurses provide.

We would love to see all of your cat photos in the comments🐾

Frankie💕

When Frankie came in for her laparoscopic spay in July, it didn't take long for her to melt all of our hearts. Frankie is the sweetest, softest little girl and was the best patient. Here she is modelling her beautiful pink surgical body suit after her surgery. Some patients prefer the suits to buster collars because they are more comfortable and easier to manage around the home during recovery.

Laparoscopic spays are a service that we offer here in practice, especially for the livelier breeds. It is a less invasive way of spaying with a shorter recovery time.

Frankie is a 1 year old cocker spaniel who always has the waggiest tail when she comes into practice. We all fell in love with her and made sure she had all the cuddles🐾

Summer hazards for cats🐱

Heatstroke🌡️ - Although cats are less likely to develop heatstroke compared to dogs, they still carry the risk of overheating. Especially if they are fluffy or flat-faced. Keeping them away from places such as greenhouses and conservatories.

Sunburn 🌞- Cats have a risk of developing sunburn, especially on their noses, ear tips and eyelids. It is also important to keep your cat out of the sun if they are white, ginger, hairless or if they have a thinner coat.

Parasites🧫 - With the sun, along come the parasites such as fleas and ticks. After a day of exploring, it is always worth giving your cat a once over to check for any unwanted visitors.

Insect bites and stings 🦟- As cats are predators and often make a game of catching flying insects. If they decide to have a play with a bee or a wasp, they tend to fight back often resulting in a sting. If you notice your pet has swollen paw, face/chin or mouth, please contact your Vet practice. However, if they are suffering with swelling of the throat or are having difficulty breathing, make sure to contact your Vets immediately.

Snake bites🐍 - Cats usually are cautious around snakes so are less likely to be bitten by one. However if they have been bitten, the outcome can be serious.

If you would like to find out more about these different hazards, please contact the practice on 01905 355938 for advice and guidance.

Last month, our nurses Laura and Naomi visited a local school to attend their summers careers fair and to introduce the Veterinary profession to the children.

During the afternoon event, Laura and Naomi were there to answer any questions the children had of life as a veterinary nurse, as well as what it is like to work in a busy veterinary centre. We hope that this will encourage the children to look into this career in the future🩺

Say hello to the gorgeous Mochi! 🐾

This stunning 9-month-old British Shorthair recently came in to see our vet, Simona, for a full health check, as she’s just joined her lovely new family ❤️

During her visit, Simona gave Mochi a thorough check-up; listening to her heart, examining her teeth, and making sure she’s happy and healthy from whiskers to tail. Of course, there were also plenty of cuddles and a few Dreamies along the way 😻

Mochi was the perfect patient and completely melted our hearts with her incredible amber eyes and calm nature. Isn’t she just beautiful?

Welcome to the family, Mochi 💕

Ticks can be as small as a sesame seed but can carry dangerous diseases, like Lyme disease, which affects both pets and humans. Tick bites often go unnoticed until symptoms appear.

🌿 Warmer weather means the start of tick season. Check your pets regularly and speak to us about tick prevention.
