🇳🇴Norway August 2025🇳🇴
I had the privilege of being invited to judge the Norwegian Cairn Terrier Speciality in Hunderfossen, just north of Lillehammer.
A quality entry awaited me! My main winners are pictured below.
The Scandinavian show system is so efficient. For those that don't know, the judge dictates an individual critique for each dog which is typed directly into the Norwegian KC results website, and within seconds it appears live on line

We always try to extend my overseas judging trips into mini holidays. Norway was no exception. We landed in Oslo Thursday lunchtime and caught a train to Hunderfossen. Our hotel was lovely and we explored down to the tranquil lake.
On Friday we explored the local hydro electric dam and took a train into the old town of Lillehammer.
If you are ever in Lillehammer, pop into the Lillehammer Bakery for lunch, the cheesecakes are out of this world🍰
We shared pizza that night with Helene, one of my ring stewards for the show. We were lucky enough to learn all about her family farm and Pilgrims Trail that goes through the farm.
Saturday was show day! The show was held in the campsite grounds, just down the road from the Hotel.
Judging commenced at just gone 10, we had a short break for lunch and we finished around 2.30.
There were some lovely Cairns present. I was very pleased with my BIS & RBIS. The BIS & RBIS puppies (litter mates) should both have bright futures.
The cairn people came together on the Saturday evening for a BBQ, presentation of 2024 awards and a raffle.
We were very kindly gifted raffle prizes of 2 tea towels (Chris' kitchen department) and a bottle of local Norwegian gin (my department). Many thanks for these kind gifts😍🥂
My judges gift was handmade by Sheila. Many thanks, the bag will be well used🏆
The hospitality and generosity of the Norwegian Cairn Club was wonderful and we thank you very much.😊
Sunday was our last day and Chris decided it would be fun to hurtle down the bobsleigh course which was used for the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics.
It was fun but plummeting down the one mile Olympic track at speeds of 100kmp/h and experiencing 3G at most of 16 corners, left me a little nauseous to say the least.
Once we returned to the hotel, collected our luggage and caught the train back to Oslo, I was very green 🤢around the gills🤢. We had to find a chemist to purchase travel sickness tablets. Once at the airport hotel, the nausea subsided, thankfully.
Travel sickness aside, Norway has been beautiful, has some great quality Cairns and the air quality is the best I have ever experienced 🌳
Thank you to the Cairn Club of Norway for a wonderful weekend away🥰
