💥It’s a journey💥 So here we go, I was anxious to share this post with everyone as I know there will be very mixed opinions on what I had to do here… This gorgeous boy came in to the salon 8 weeks ago with an extremely pelted coat, I tried to see if I could remove the matting but there was not a chance (this was not owners fault at all he became so pelted due to having an operation and a long recovery) so the only option was to do a complete shave. I cried my eyes out having to come to this decision and after a very emotional phone call to owners (on my end not theirs) we agreed to go ahead with the shave, this was the kindest option for this gentle giant!! Now being double coated I would NEVER come to this decision lightly (hence the hour of tears) I had a long chat with the owners and explained that it’s a risk as his coat controls temperature and they would need to keep and extremely close eye on him in weather changes, I also explained that he may grow back differently and they were fine with all of this. I didn’t get a photo when he left as he had been with me so long that I wanted him to be able to leave bless him but today I was greeted with the happiest, bounciest, most gorgeous boy all excited for his groom!! After a lot of sloppy kisses I looked over his growth and I’m so happy with how he is growing back!! We have agreed grooms every 8 weeks to grow this coat back properly and owners are also combing daily now to keep him Matt free as he grows!! So here we go I will bring you all along on this journey and hopefully soon we will see the beautiful Leongerger coat returning back to how it should be 🤍
