The weather might be miserable, but at least there's something cute to brighten the day 🐣🌧️

While we're all wondering where sun has gone, this little one is completely unbothered and enjoying life with it's broody mum's 🥰
Sometimes all it takes is one fluffy chick to make a grey day a little brighter ☁️🐥

We've been a bit quiet lately, but it's complete chick chaos here at Crescent Poultry 🐣😂
At the moment we have a whopping 10 broody hens keeping us busy including 2 turkeys! 🦃🐔

Unfortunately, we've also had 2 mums reject their chicks, so we've had to set up a little nursery area for the babies to make sure they're warm, safe, and getting all the care they need ❤️
On the brighter side, one of our Pekin chicks hatched this morning under two of our broodies and we're happy to report they've both accepted the little one and are doing a fantastic job 🥰🐥
We've got chicks everywhere at the moment, plenty of 4-week-olds growing on nicely, and lots more eggs sitting in the incubators waiting for their turn to hatch 🥚
It's busy, noisy, and slightly chaotic... but we wouldn't have it any other way! 🐔

Plenty of 9 week old cockerels available too so feel free to message for any info 😊

🌞 Keeping poultry cool in the hot weather 🐔🦃

With high temperatures this week,it’s important to help keep your birds comfortable and healthy ☀️

Here's a few simple things can make a big difference to our feathered ones:👇

- Plenty of shade available throughout the day
- Fresh water at normal temperature and topped up regularly
- Good airflow around coops and pens
- Avoid overcrowding where possible
- don't bathe them in cold water
- water based treats such as watermelon

It’s also really important to stay on top of routine health checks at this time of year

Mites absolutely love warm weather, so now’s the time if you haven't already to regularly check housing, perches, and your birds themselves to catch any issues early.

A little extra care in this heat goes a long way ❤️🐓
