Let’s talk about supplements — do you really need them? 🐾

If you're like me, at some point, you've spent a fortune on supplements for fear they might be missing something. (See old photo 🫣)
You find yourself adding probiotics, powders, and oils, just in case.
With so much advice out there and so many products promising benefits, it’s easy to feel like you should be doing more. Over time, I’ve learned that in most cases, less is more.

I know you probably think I'm mad saying this, since I sell supplements 😆
If your dog is healthy and eating a fresh, varied diet, you probably don’t need to add anything at all. Wholefoods are the best way to give your dog what they need, and most of the time, that’s enough.

Supplements have their place, but usually for specific health conditions, not just in case you’re missing something. Not all supplements are created equal. Some might not be doing much at all.

If you're not sure whether what you're using is helping or even needed, feel free to pop in for a chat. I'm always happy to take a look and might be able to suggest some dietary changes that support their needs more effectively.

Hopefully, by now, you know, I’ll always give you my honest opinion. No pressure, just a bit of reassurance.

Morning all

Many of you have been coming to us for several years now (Thank you).

In that time, we've met some truly wonderful people and their dogs. Every one of you has been on your own unique journey. For those just starting out, it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming.🤯

I thought it would be really nice to share your experience on how you supported your dogs to better health and wellbeing. 🐶

If you'd be happy to share your experience, let me know in the comments by saying ' Journey' or DM your story (with photos)

We’d love to feature a few stories over the coming weeks, just now and then, to inspire and support others who are finding their way ❤️

Good morning all

This beautiful girl is Darcie, and we need your help.

She is currently in foster locally, looking for her forever home, but more urgently, a temporary foster is needed 12th - 24th June ( see post for more details)

I've been fortunate to spend time with Darcie. Despite her disabilities she is a tenacious little lady. She’s fearless, curious, affectionate, playful, and full of life. If she had her way, she would barely slow down 😂

If you or anyone you know could help in June, please get in touch. Even better if you think you can offer a forever home. Someone who sees past the challenges and loves her for the wonderful, determined dog she is.

A meet and greet can be arranged.

Thank you ❤️

If anyone is local(ish) to Brookwood, Surrey. I really need a bit of help please.
Temporary fosterer needed from 12-24th June. OK with splitting the time between a couple of families.

Darcie is an absolute delight and a great house guest. Despite her disabilities (visually impaired and epileptic tripaw dog) she is one of the happiest dogs I've fostered. She is determined to live life to the fullest!

I am away up north for a family birthday and to scatter my Father's ashes. As I will be staying in a caravan, it just won't work for a three legged dog unable to manoeuvre.

She would need
Someone home most of the day.
One slow walk (up to an hour) and a smaller one later on.
A family that are mindful of her different needs.
Someone that will step up should she have a seizure (one every eight weeks-ish, so unlikely, but possible)
Lots of cuddles
A bit of play time
Otherwise she is happy sitting in the garden!

You would get all her food and medication

Thanks in advance, Emma and Darcie 🤞🏻

Good afternoon, everyone — hope you’re enjoying the sunshine! 🌞

One of our lovely customers has had to unexpectedly move their dog off raw following vet advice, and they now have some food to rehome at a big discount.

Available: Dougie’s 80|10|10

Lamb x18
Duck x14
Beef x10

This would usually cost over £100 — they’re asking for £80. It was purchased from us yesterday (29th April) and is from the most recent delivery.

The food is currently in Frimley for collection. Ideally they’d like to sell it as a bundle, but may be open to splitting it.

Please note: As the food has left our premises, we’re unable to take it back due to storage safety policies.

Jenna will comment below if you'd like to get in touch with her directly.

Good afternoon, everyone.

With the warmer weather, the adders are starting to venture out. 🐍

Dan filmed this video just an hour ago in our shop car park. If you're visiting or walking in the area, please be mindful and stay vigilant. For safety, I strongly recommend keeping your dogs on a lead.

If you spot an adder, remember: stay calm and give it space. Adders don’t want to engage with us, and they only bite in self-defense. If you need to move one, gently stamp your feet to create vibrations, but it's best to leave it alone if possible and warn others nearby.

If your dog is bitten, you need to seek veterinary treatment quickly.

❌️Do not panic.
❌️Do not attempt to suck out the poison or tourniquet.
❌️Do not get your dog to run as this will increase their heart rate, causing the poison to spread.
✅️ Remain calm. If you can carry your dog, do so. If not, calmly get them to a vet as quickly as possible.

We know this may worry some of you, but we wanted you to be aware and prepared. Especially as we are all out and about with our dogs enjoying this lovely weather.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions!

Good morning on this beautiful day 🌞

🐕 Like me, I'm sure you are looking forward to lovely walks in the warmer weather, but with spring comes the worry - the little pests are come out of hiding. 🪳

Now is the perfect time to consider a more natural approach before the pest season is in full swing.

Traditional treatments can not only have an impact on our pets health, but the world around us too.

A University of Sussex study found that songbirds are being effected by more traditional treatments as they line their nests with animal fur. Samples contained a high amount of harmful pesticides like fipronil, imidacloprid, and permethrin. These pesticides were linked to high nest mortality, with eggs failing to hatch and chicks dying soon after birth, contributing to the decline of nearly half of UK bird species.

Unfortunately pesticides from pet treatments have also been detected in 99% of river samples, threatening aquatic life. Shockingly, just one flea treatment for a medium-sized dog contains enough pesticide to kill 60 million bees 🐝

This also raises an important question—what are the long-term effects on our pets? If you’d like to find out about more natural options, we are here to help 🙂
