I spent a fantastic afternoon putting the poodle back into
Sisi and Canela joined the family having waited a long time on the list and I was so happy to see them as not only are they neighbours but they are also the first poodles that I’ve groomed since college several years ago. They were an absolute pleasure to groom and I’m looking forward to getting to know them more at each visit

Massive shout out to Stanley the Cockapoo. He’s been coming for half an hour once a week and up until last week wouldn’t let me anywhere near his legs with the clippers. Thanks to the perseverance of his mummy at home desensitising him and brushing him for half an hour everyday he was comfortable being clipped all over for most of his half hour session today. It’s worth mentioning that a year ago he wouldn’t let me anywhere near him! He still giving the occasional warning with his mouth but more mouthing than biting now. He’s also taken to jumping in the bath to check it out. His grooming is totally consent based and he jumps on the table happily and off when he’s had enough. Absolutely love ❤️ you Stanley.

Today was gorgeous Dilly the 2 year old standard labradoodle, last ever groom with me as she’s moving to Buckinghamshire with her lovely human parents. I’ve been grooming Dilly since she was 8 months old and I will really miss her. She’s never been a fan of being groomed and is still terrified of the dryer and not at all happy on the table but now she comes in happily and gives me lots of affection because she knows I will clip her on the floor where she’s comfortable and she will go home a bit damp after a towel dry. I’ll be contacting the groomers groups that promote less stress grooming to try and find someone who will continue to work with her in this way. Goodbye Dilly and thank you so much Harriet for the gorgeous flowers.

A big warm welcome to Huey who joined the family for his groom today having already been for a meet and treat session and a familiarisation session over the last couple of weeks. He’d been having some difficulty coping with work on his front pads and legs so really loved the distraction of looking for kibble in the snuffle mat whilst I worked on these areas. Really enjoyed my time with you Huey and can’t wait to see you again in 6 weeks.

I can’t believe how quickly the last two years has gone! From no client base to being full and with such lovely dogs and owners being part of the family. Today I had the pleasure of grooming Jenson, Freddie and Lola who rather poetically were some of my very first doggies. I also got to spend a second puppy familiarisation session with the gorgeous Brandy, a very pretty Australian labradoodle. I used to groom her owners previous dog so she’s had a name down to join me since they first knew they were getting her. I feel very humbled and hugely supported. I couldn’t have done it without the brilliant mentoring of Tina and the amazing advice from Sue Williamson who wrote Taking the Grr out of the Grooming Salon and Stephanie Zikmann Thanks to these amazing ladies I am happy to say I hardly ever use restraints on the dogs I groom and try every day to use cooperative methods to ensure my grooming methods are as fear free as possible

Since I set up almost two years ago I’ve seen how common it is for dogs to find some or all aspects of grooming very stressful. Dilly is one of these. For her being dried is way too much but she is also much happier being clipped on the floor rather than the table. Here she is surrounded by her hair before her bath and towel dry. Such a sweet girl ❤️🐶🐾

Just had to share these photos of Stanley from earlier this week. After regular fortnightly visits of being clipped on the floor, Stanley jumped straight on the table when he came in and was happy to stay there being feed treats by his mummy whilst I clipped away. A couple of warnings from him for me to stop but no actually biting and always followed by a kiss from him to let me know he just wasn’t comfortable with that bit. We’ve still got a way to go but he’s really making amazing progress and is a different dog to the one that wouldn’t let me near him without biting. Stan you really are the man and I love you 🐾❤️🐶
