Rabbit Awareness Week - Day 1

🐇 A hutch isn’t enough. Rabbits need space - real space - to run, jump, dig and just be rabbits.

🏡 An ideal outdoor enclosure should be:

✔️ At least 3m x 2m and 1m high
✔️ Safe, secure, and predator-proof
✔️ Enriched with tunnels, platforms & toys
✔️ A place they can live, not just sleep

🐶Meet Nola 🐶

Beautiful Nola is a 10 week old Cocker Spaniel who currently weighs 3.77kg, she came to the surgery today for her first vet visit.

She won the hearts of all the staff at Cogges showing off how clever she was with her “sit” and “down”.

She is booked in for an adolescence health check when she is six month old.

Adolescence health checks are a crucial appointment with one of our vets or nurses to assess a pets overall health and development as they transition into adolescence.

We cannot wait to see Nola back and how much she would have grown and developed in this time 🤎

☀️We’re expecting some hot weather this week. If it feels warm to you, it’s even hotter for your dog.☀️

Skipping a walk is always the safer choice when it’s too hot. No dog has ever been harmed by missing one, but heatstroke can be deadly.

⚠️Keep an eye out for grass seeds this summer.⚠️

Grass seeds can cause a lot of pain for dogs — especially if they get stuck in paws🐾, ears👂, or eyes 👀after a run through long grass🌾.

Look out for signs like:

👉Constant licking or limping
👉Shaking their head or rubbing their ear
👉Sneezing fits or sore, swollen eyes

Left untreated, a grass seed can even work its way under the skin. This can require surgery for removal.

If you’re worried, give the surgery a call. We’re here to help you help your dog 🐶
