Today would have been my Dukes 9th birthday. As most of you know we tragically lost our beautiful boy earlier this year. He was such a happy dog that loved everyone! He made some good friends at work and all the dogs that came in to be groomed loved him, even the little ones that were usually scared of bigger dogs!
It hasn’t been an easy year for me with losing Duke amongst other things and I’ve had to cancel a lot of appointments so I’d really like to thank you all for your patience and support.
Happy Heavenly birthday Duke. Love you, miss you x 💙

Let's make sure we look after our furry friends by using the advice from the RSPCA (England & Wales) below 👇

🚗 Never leave them in hot cars
💧 Make sure they have plenty of cold water
🐶 Head out for walks in the early mornings or late evening when it's cooler

This is a photo of Sam and her dog JD. Most of you will have met Sam but for those who haven’t, Sam has now been working at Cogges Canine Care for a couple of years helping to prepare your dogs for their haircuts. Sam will be starting her grooming qualification next year and is also keen to learn canine massage therapy. We love her and so do the dogs!

This sunny warm weather is lovely but we must remember to take care of our furry friends. Pets overheat quickly in the sun, especially older animals and short-nosed dog breeds.
To keep your pet cool follow some simple rules:

• Always provide fresh water, including on walks and in your cat's favourite resting place.
• Only walk dogs in the mornings and evenings when there is less sun; as well as overheating, their pads can easily burn on the pavement.
• Use a paddling pool to help dogs cool down and ensure they stick to the shady areas.
• If they need cooling down then it is better to wet their coats and paws (with cool, not cold, water) than to use wet towels as the water in the towel will rapidly heat to match their body temperature.
• Take care to provide shade for rabbits in their hutches and runs.
• Never leave any animal locked in a car, temperatures soar in a matter of minutes and the heat is rapidly fatal.
• Cats often will prefer to eat late at night.

If your pet shows any of the following signs then contact us immediately - excessive panting, red gums, vomiting or collapse.

Defra have now confirmed we may operate as normal from 29th March. We were told it was April the 12th so all appointments have been booked in from then and before then we are busy with welfare cases.
If you feel your dog can’t wait any longer then please do let us know and we will do our very best to help.
We really do appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding through this difficult time

It has come to our attention that recently there has been an increasing number of dogs in the area with kennel cough.

If you think your dog has kennel cough please isolate your dog as soon as possible and prevent any contact with friends/family members dogs.

The normal incubation period is between 2-14 days.

If your dog has had the kennel cough vaccine please be aware that even though they have been vaccinated they can still display symptoms and pass it on with different strains of the illness - similar to us having the flu vaccine.

The usual symptoms of kennel cough are:

Coughing
Retching and bringing up bile
Generally out of sorts/quiet

If you are concerned that your dog is displaying any symptoms of kennel cough please contact your vet.

Thankyou.

Just want to say a big thankyou to my customers for being so patient and understanding over the last couple of weeks.
I know it’s been hard to understand why we are closed when some groomers are open as normal but it is the rules set down by Defra which I feel I must follow.
However, If you feel your dog needs attention in any way at all please message me and I will of course help
It won’t be long before restrictions are lifted and we can work our socks off to catch up !
Stay home Stay safe xx
