Artificial grass is basically a plastic carpet,
fitted on top of a hardcore and sand base. Similar to a carpet in your home, fitted on the floor. Now, think about your dog 'doing their business' on your carpet, several times a day, for years and years....mmmmm, nice :(
You can pick up the poos, but not all poos are created equal, and some refuse to be pick up completely. Where do the bits go? Where does the wee go? The rain or hose just washes the nastiness down into the base of the grass, or it finds its way through the drainage holes, and sits under the latex base, in the sand. There's no soil, or natural bacteria to break down the bits, or bio degrade the waste. Uric acid crystals aren't dissolved by water, so everything just stays where it is... stinking. At Top Dog Turf, we're weirdly obsessed with dog poo and wee. We don't like the idea of children playing on dirty, unhygienic grass, or you not being able to enjoy your garden because of the pissy pongs. Using odour reducing minerals and recycled materials within our installations, and specific types of artificial turf, we can reduce the odour issues by up to 80%
