Great morning working with Harper Adams Vet Physio class, they came to study how working dogs and their daily husbandry and training works. I introduced them to how place boards are fundamental in early foundations and finished with a demonstration of my Bavarian Mountain hound following a track, Labrador retrieving and a spaniel hunting.

Cheshire Gundogs in 2025 is changing things slightly in the way we help owners and their dogs develop gundog techniques. We still offer training to pet owners as well as shooting dogs, who wish to practice gundog training for engagement and exercise. Over the years, we have had owners thinking gundog classes are just about obedience for their pet. Although there are elements of obedience in gundog training these are only part of the foundations towards more advanced techniques, this is explained more on our websites home page. In order to help owners establish whether gundog training is for them or their dog, we are offering a single taster session the week prior to joining our group classes. This is not mandatory for the 4 week group class but will help you decide if this is for you. This will include demonstrations of different gundog techniques, Q & A and the opportunity to try some of the foundation elements yourself. I have still have places available from this Sunday for both puppy and novice classes. These are 6 week group classes every sunday for either puppy 10am or novice 11am. Each class is £100.

The puppy class will consist of foundation elements using place boards to teach presentation of the retrieve and sit/stay. We will also include heeling and hunting.

The Novice class will expand on the puppy elements and include direction, stop whistle, jumping, water and memory retrieves.
