Hi everyone how lovely is this weather?

For our beloved pets this can be a challenging time with paths being extremely hot, fields and woodland in full bloom, grass getting very long providing a perfect habitat for bugs that bite or sting, fleas and ticks waiting for a host to walk by and latch on. All of which can be uncomfortable or harmful to your dog 🐕.

Grass seeds are easily picked up when our pets are having a wonderful time playing in the long grass. Seeds can get stuck in; paws, ears and coat and if stuck left, can cause skin irritation, pain, discomfort and sometimes infections if they pe*****te the skin.

Grooming is not just about your dog looking gorgeous. A visual health check is carried out during all grooms and can help identify health concerns early and remove any unwanted pests such as ticks.

Hi everyone in the picture is Rita as you can see she has been partying way to hard over the last couple of weeks, playing in the park with her doggy friends,chasing sticks and her ball and rolling in the grass and mud and getting caught in all the showers.

Rita now feels it’s time for a relax for a couple of hours at the spa which is a why she has booked her self in for a pamper at Groom & Zoom all she needs to do now is decide what treatment to have.

Conventional grooming and Understanding how a grooming appointment could look for your dog..

STEP ONE
I was put into the car and was ensure of where I was going, when I arrived it was a new environment. A person greeted us - who I have never meet before.
STEP TWO
My owner then left and I started to become nervous and anxious.
STEP THREE
This person puts me on a surface it’s slippery, high up and I can’t get down. I desperately try to tell the lady
I want to get down by trying to jump off the edge but she then puts a rope around my neck to stop me.
STEP FOUR
I start moving around the table but the thing around my neck is restricting me - the lady then adds another rope under my belly so now I can’t turn around.
STEP FOUR
I can feel my fear taking control so I show my teeth to pre warn the lady that i feel threatened and I MUST get down.
STEP FIVE
The groomer puts a plastic uncomfortable thing over my mouth and now I can’t communicate

Now STEP SEVEN is where the dog either shuts down and accepts it had no choice or continues to fight throughout the groom

If they shut down this can be damaging for their wellbeing, have long lasting effects to their health and can change their whole behaviour once home. If this continues every few weeks when taken grooming this can cause long lasting damage. IF A GROOMER SAYS “ they was fine once muzzled they calmed down” they are NOT fine if you have had to muzzle them….

This is not to put others down it is to try and educate dog owners that research is essential . Just like you do for your child going to a new school…

Research your options, ask the groomer to stay so you can see how it works.. ask questions. So many people say to me “ I had a feeling on drop off” GO with that feeling .. a good groomer will listen, explain and make you feel at ease 🙌

Hi everyone it’s been a while since I last posted as I have been so busy thanks to my lovely customers

I was asked the other day by a customer as a dog groomer what is important to me after a few seconds I replied.

Someone that bonds with my dog
Keeping them calm and relaxed
Gives the dog there full attention
Reassures them during the groom
Won’t rush or force them and works at there pace
