Let’s talk first aid ⛑️🩹🐕 (warning: graphic photo)

Last year, I had my first real first aid emergency on a walk.

One of my doggies had their ear ripped open by another dog. I stayed calm and dealt with the situation, but it made me realise that the human first aid kit I’d adapted for dogs just wasn’t enough.

That experience prompted me to invest in a proper canine first aid kit from . I hoped I’d never need it… but I wanted to be prepared if I ever did.

Fast forward to this morning.

Just 20 minutes into our walk, Cosmo jumped into a shallow stream (one he’s been in countless times before) and came straight back out screaming.

I knew immediately he was badly hurt.

We stayed calm, got back to the van, cleaned and dressed the wound, and wrapped his leg before his mum took him straight to the vets.

His mum later told me the vet was really impressed with the first aid I’d given. As a pet professional, that’s a compliment I’m incredibly proud of. 🥹

A huge thank you to for putting together such a brilliant first aid kit. Having the right equipment, alongside first aid training, meant I could deal with the situation quickly, calmly and confidently until Cosmo could get veterinary treatment. ❤️‍🩹

Emergencies don’t happen often, but when they do, being prepared can make all the difference.

We’re all wishing Cosmo a speedy recovery, and I’m sure he’ll be back to giving us his signature tippy-tappy toes in no time 🥹🖤

Snaps from our latest Adventure Day 🌊

Unfortunately, whoever is in charge of the weather forgot to switch the sunshine on, so we spent the day wandering around in what can only be described as a giant cloud 🤪🌫️

The gang had the best time and made the most of every second. Watching them confidently explore new places, make good choices, and enjoy each other’s company is always one of the highlights of these days. 🌟

We were incredibly lucky to have such a lovely group with us too. Everyone travelled beautifully, listened when it counted, and represented the Adventure Day crew exceptionally well. Days like this remind me just how special it is to spend my working life alongside such brilliant dogs. 🧡

Fog or no fog, we’d happily do it all again tomorrow. 🫶🏻

The biggest shout out to (or ‘Holly No. 2’ 🤪) for being the very best Adventure Day sidekick 👯‍♀️

Not only did she help keep the dogs safe, happy and entertained all day, she also somehow managed to survive several hours trapped in a van with my questionable road trip playlist. A true professional. ✌🏻

We’re already taking names for our next Adventure Day! We don’t tend to plan these too far in advance and usually confirm locations the week before, so we can make the most of the weather and conditions.

You don’t need to be a regular member of Holly and The Dogs to join us, but all dogs are required to attend a trial walk beforehand so we can ensure they’re a good fit for the group and adventure-day environment. 🙌🏻
