We’re delighted to share that our equine vet, Archie Moffat MRCVS, will be giving a talk on Equine First Aid & Wounds on Tuesday 2 June 2026 at East Meon Village Hall.

A great opportunity for horse owners to learn practical first aid tips and ask questions in an informal setting.

Please see contact details on the poster if you would like to book in!

Equine Influenza (Spring 2026)🌡️🐎

As you may be aware, there have been confirmed cases of Equine Influenza in Hampshire, so we want to make all horse owners aware of what to watch for and how to protect your horses.

What is Equine Influenza?

It’s a highly contagious, airborne, viral respiratory disease that spreads quickly between horses—especially in yards, events, and shared facilities.

Signs to look out for:

- Sudden high temperature (often 38.5–41°C)
- Dry, persistent cough
- Nasal discharge (clear to thick)
- Lethargy or dullness
- Loss of appetite
- Swollen glands under the jaw

If your horse shows any of these signs, isolate them immediately and contact your vet.

What can horse owners do to prevent their horses from contracting Equine Influenza?

- Vaccination is the most effective way to reduce the risk and severity of equine influenza. Therefore making sure their horse’s vaccines are up to date is vital.
- Ensuring good biosecurity on yards and when out competing. This means avoiding shared equipment, washing hands and changing clothing between horses and limiting unnecessary movement of horses.

If you’re unsure about your horse’s vaccination status or need advice, please get in touch to discuss with one of our vets.

We wanted to keep you updated on a small change to our pricing.

We had hoped the recent fuel increase would be temporary however they look set to continue for a while. Due to this continued rise in fuel, we’ve made the difficult decision to introduce a small, incremental increase to our journey fees. This will be between £1–£2 depending on your distance from the practice. This will take effect from 1st May 2026.

As always, you’re very welcome to come to the clinic where there is no visit fee. We also encourage group bookings where possible — combining visits at the same yard really helps keep costs down for everyone.

We’re hopeful that this won’t be for too long, and as soon as fuel prices begin to settle, we will review the situation with the aim of returning our fees to their original price 🤞

Thank you for your understanding 🐴

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT ATTENDED OUR CLIENT EVENING! 🐴🗣️☕️

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our client talk evening on Monday – we were delighted to see such a brilliant turnout!

We’d also like to extend our sincere thanks to our guest speakers, Hannah Davidson from Norbrook and Liane Preshaw, Animal Behaviourist from The Horse Trust. Their insightful talks on gastric ulcers, equine behaviour, and veterinary care made for an engaging and informative evening.

If you couldn’t make it on the night but are interested in learning more about gastric ulcers or behaviour training for your horse, our vets are always happy to chat – just get in touch with the practice.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we hope to see you at our next event!

Looking forward to seeing all those booked into our client evening tonight at Arlebury rugby club in Alresford!

Meet Kite – Our New Family Member! 🐴

Our Office Manager, Jayne, has recently welcomed a very special horse into her life! Meet Kite, a handsome cob who Jayne adopted from World Horse Welfare last August.

Kite originally lived at Tower House Horses, a local charity supporting mental and emotional wellbeing through equine therapy. Jayne, who is a qualified equine facilitated practitioner, had worked with the charity before it sadly closed. When she spotted Kite on the WHW website, it was love at first sight and serendipity played its part!

Despite being unbacked and having never left his field, Kite has taken everything in his stride. Jayne has been introducing him to the wider world and he’s proving to be calm, kind and incredibly adaptable.

This winter, Kite is taking a well earned break from training, but come spring, Jayne looks forward to continuing his backing journey.

We’re so happy Kite has found his forever home and is thriving under Jayne’s care.
