Truffle ✨
I first met Mr Truffle around two years ago when I was running my very first business, Fetch N Stretch, as a professional dog walker. 🎾

Fast forward to today, and that journey has grown into Harriet & Hound. I’m so grateful that I still get to take Truffle out on his walks, and now I also get to be his groomer. 🥰

The bond we’ve built over the years is one of my absolute favourites, and he’s truly the sweetest boy. 💗

As part of celebrating my first year at Harriet & Hound Dog Grooming Studio, I thought I’d take you right back to where it all began…

Before the grooming studio, there was Fetch N Stretch. 🐾

I started my very first business in 2023 as a dog walker and these are just a few of the amazing dogs who made those early days so special. Every walk, muddy adventure and wagging tail helped build my confidence and reminded me why I wanted to work with dogs every single day.

Although Fetch N Stretch has grown into Harriet & Hound, I’m incredibly lucky that I still get to be part of some of these dogs lives and continue to do a few walks per week for them.

Next week marks three years since I started my very first business, so this felt like the perfect time to look back at where the journey began. Thank you to every single person who has supported me along the way. ❤️

Behind the scenes 👀

Hygiene, cleanliness and maintaining a well cared for studio are all top priorities here at Harriet & Hound.

🫧What happens between each groom?

🫧Our blades are cleaned with a sanitising spray and then go into our UV sterilising unit.
🫧Any brushes, combs or scissors are also wiped clean and placed into our UV sterilising unit.
🫧Table cleaned with an anti bacterial spray.
🫧Bath rinsed out & towels changed
🫧Sweep & mop of the entire studio

🧽What happens at the start & end of each day?

Start:
🧽Blades, scissors & other equipment straight on for a long sterilising session
🧽Open all windows for a change of air
🧽Front counter, shelving, gates & door handles wiped with an antibacterial spray
🧽Quick mop

End:
🧽Units pulled out & swept behind
🧽Full studio sweep or hoover
🧽Full studio mop
🧽Table wiped down
🧽Bath scrubbed & washed out
🧽Towels in the wash
🧽Blades & other equipment cleaned, ready to go into the sterilising unit

We also do big deep cleans which includes washing all our dog toys, cleaning the wheels of our stools, cleaning the aircon & dryer vents, full wipe down of every shampoo bottle, fragrances etc, plus much more.

It’s important when choosing a groomer to go too and trust with your pet that you are thinking of the whole picture! It’s not just about the haircut, it’s the environment they’ll be spending time in and the equipment/products used on their skin. 💗

Yesterday an incredibly handsome Sprocker came to visit me 🥰 this beautiful chap is Albie, a sweet and gentle spaniel who really should be a dog model! 📸

I have a real soft spot towards all spaniels, not only are they so intelligent, affectionate and beautiful. They also have such a versatile coat! They can be hand stripped, clipped, deshedded or just scissor tidied! Transforming post neutering wooly coats or thick show coats is always a great afternoon for me! ✂️
