Here at Block Fen most of the animals have been rescued from neglect and bad treatment by their previous owners. When they come to us they are often nervous of strangers. We spend weeks, sometimes months, looking after them preparing them for a new life and a second chance. We look after cats, dogs, rabbits and other domestic animals - at any one time we are caring for over 150 animals. All our an

imals are looking for someone to offer them a new home, to be a friend and look after them. In return a pet will offer fun, friendship and loyalty. It costs the RSPCA over £1,400 a day to run Block Fen Animal Centre. The RSPCA relies entirely on kind donations from people like you. As you know, we've been here at RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre for over 20 years. 💙
We like to take care of our equipment 🥰 but our cat flaps get a lot of use 🐈 and they're starting to get tired. They're heavy duty, bespoke cat flaps with plastic thumb turn latches to make the flaps lock or only open one way. 🔒
The company who originally made the flaps stopped trading when the owner retired and we now can't get new latches. 😿

Here's where you come in... 😻
Do you know anyone who might be able to assist us by manufacturing or 3d printing replacement thumb turn latches? 🤓
Our cat engineers have tried but they're all out of ideas 💡 (and got distracted by a butterfly! 🦋)

After a whopping 669 days in RSPCA care, our beloved BamBam finally packed his bags (and his favourite toys!) last week and headed off to his forever home! 🏡💙

Nobody deserves it more – he’s been waiting so patiently and never gave up hope. Now, he’s starting his brand new chapter surrounded by love, cuddles, and endless adventures. 🐾✨

We’re absolutely over the moon for him and wish BamBam the happiest, waggiest, most treat-filled future imaginable! 🌟💖

❗️STRAY DOG SIGHTING❗️UPDATE ON TUESDAY EVENING - This dog has returned home 😅
We understand there is still a second lurcher, belonging to a different owner, missing locally. We're keeping an eye out for that one too.

We've just had a small cream whippet/lurcher type dog stroll into our centre car park off lead without an owner. Unfortunately, the dog was extremely scared and ran off before we could close our gates to keep it safe.

The dog ran across the fields heading towards skylark.

We did get close enough to see that it had a collar on with a tag attached but we sadly couldn't see any of the information on the tag.

If you know anyone who is missing a whippet/lurcher type, please let them know. It's getting quiet warm outside and this dog was already panting heavily.

We currently have 3️⃣ vacancies for Animal Care Assistants at Block Fen Animal Centre 🐾

The vacancies are as follows:
🔹Full-Time, Permanent
🔹Full-Time, 24 month contract
🔹Part-Time (14 hours) Permanent Weekends (Sat & Sun)

If you are passionate about animal welfare or are looking to expand your knowledge in animal care and rehabilitation this may be the role for you.....

Our working week spans across 7 days on a rolling rota pattern. This includes working some full weekends for the full-time roles and every weekend for the part-time role. Our working day starts at 08:30 and finishes at 16:30. All roles involve working across all of our animal sections, which includes; dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, domestic birds and the occasional pig or goat! 🐶🐱🐭🐹🐰🐷🐔🐾

A huge thank you to Claire Streater and everyone who attended the Cambridgeshire sitehound walk, on the 8th of June, to raise money for the dogs in our care! 🥰

Thanks to your amazing generosity, you raised a fantastic £200!! 🎉

Claire then very kindly purchased some much-needed items from our Amazon wishlist 💙

She popped into the centre today, along with her two beautiful sighthounds, to deliver the goodies in person — and we couldn’t be more grateful! 🐾

**Raffle** We have a fantastic opportunity to offer this "one nights stay at a local Shepherds Hut". It has been kindly donated to us by @ Fourwinds Leisure to help raise money for the animals in our care. Entry is just £2 a go and you can enter via our reception at the centre.

We have some very exciting news to share with you. 📢🎊
Tiffany, our kennel supervisor, has secured a place in the London Marathon 2026! 🏃‍♀️🐾
You might recognise Tiff as the lady with the microphone in the dog show ring on our open day. She's been at RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre since 2009 when she started as a volunteer. We soon snapped her up as a permanent fixture! 🥰
Tiff is well known for going above and beyond for the animals in our care, she's an all-round wonder woman! 🦸‍♀️ She remembers the name of every dog who has stayed with us 😍
In March this year Tiff ran the Cambridge Half Marathon and she absolutely smashed it. 🥇👟👟 (We'll spare you the gory details about the state of her feet afterwards 🤢😅)
So when the call came this afternoon to confirm she had a place, she was bouncing around the centre, grinning from ear to ear! 😁
