Another busy day behind the scenes at Derby House Dogs 🌿

Today has been a mix of moving trees, planting, cleaning, drying out the Barn Hunt ring and getting more of the site ready for the dogs and people using it.

It’s not always glamorous work, but it all goes into building a venue that works better for training, classes, workshops and everything else we’ve got planned.

Slowly but surely, the spaces are coming together.

Recall problems usually do not get fixed by shouting louder.

They get fixed by building the skill properly.

Start close.
Reward check-ins.
Make coming back worth it.
Then gradually add distance and distractions.

Our Training Spaces are ideal for practising this kind of work, and our next Recall Workshop is on 30th May.

Recall is not just shouting your dog’s name louder and hoping for the best.

Good recall needs:

- Clear cues
- Better rewards
- Less nagging
- Realistic distractions
- Practice in the right environment
- A dog who actually wants to come back

That’s exactly why our Training Spaces work so well alongside our workshops.

You can learn the foundations in a session, then use private practice time to build the skill properly.

Too hot for a proper walk? ☀️

Our Private Training Spaces are a great option for a short, calm training session instead.

Each space has running water, and we’ve got gazebos available for shade.

A 30-minute slot is perfect for:

* Light training
* Sniffing games
* Recall practice
* Focus work
* Class homework
* Calm confidence building

No mad running needed.

Just a useful bit of time with your dog, without pushing them through a hot afternoon walk.

Training Space Spotlight: Kain’s Knoll 🐾

Kain’s Knoll is one of our new Private Training Spaces at Derby House Dogs.

It’s ideal for owners who want to practise active training with their dog, especially around confidence, body awareness and equipment.

This space includes access to:

A-frame
Tunnel
Jumps
Hoop
Crosswalk
Poles
Cones

It’s a great option if you want to work on foundations, revisit exercises from class, or give your dog a fun, focused training session.

We’ve been testing something a little bit different at Derby House Dogs, and let’s just say… we’re excited.

But if you like seeing dogs having fun, learning new skills and making the most of our venue, you’ll want to keep an eye on what’s coming next.

Our Training Spaces are opening for bookings 🐾

We’ve redesigned the site to create private spaces where you can practise with your dog outside of a class setting.

These aren’t just exercise fields. They’re for owners who want time to actively work on things like:

* Recall
* Focus and engagement
* Flatwork
* Confidence building
* Puppy skills
* Equipment practice
* Training between classes

We’re starting with three bookable spaces:

**Kain’s Knoll**
Our agility and equipment space.

**Bobby’s Bodega**
A smaller space, ideal for puppies, smaller dogs and flatwork... and wine?.

**Wren’s Warren**
A larger space for dogs who need a bit more room to move and practise.

Bookings are available for 30 or 60 minutes.

All bookings are subject to our Training Space Rules and Equipment & Handling Policy.
