So proud of Ralph on so many levels building his confidence week on week and he’s only been with us for just short of a month.

We managed get some consistent cooperative play in the unit, then to overcome our irrational fear of the jump in just this one session, clearing 27” by the end, and not only that, he did this with his previous triggers in the background — other dogs!!
Well done Ralph 👏❤️

All the hard work is doing at home is paying off tenfold! Can’t wait to see your continued progress 👌

Yesterday we worked on tracking…..

Did you know your dog has a superpower? Their nose! 👃 Tracking taps into this natural ability, letting your dog do what they were born to do—follow scent trails. It’s not just fun; it’s deeply satisfying and incredibly important for their mental health.

Here’s why tracking is amazing:
✅ Natural Instinct – Dogs are hardwired to track. When you encourage this, you’re fulfilling their core biological needs.
✅ Mental Workout – Tracking engages their brain far more than passive activities like licky mats or snuffle mats. Your dog has to focus, problem-solve, and think, which tires them out in the best way.
✅ Confidence Booster – Successfully following a trail builds confidence and can help give the dog a purpose in a busy environment.
✅ Simple to Start – You don’t need fancy gear. A lead, some food, and a quiet area to practice are enough to begin.

While snuffle and licky mats are nice for a quick distraction, tracking is active enrichment. It’s real-world stimulation that connects your dog to their instincts and strengthens your bond along the way.

Some of our beautiful students this week. Lots of our dogs have been shunned by standard daycares deemed unsuitable told to castrate or kicked out. This is the environment not what the dog is capable of. Structured socialisation, bond with a handler to lead the way, functional obedience like recall. This is all taught to the dog. If you don’t show the dog what’s expected then it becomes a free for all. We carefully work with each dog individually and bring out the best in who they are! Training and guidance not just throw them all together and pray for the best. We have many clients whose dogs issues stemmed from daycare! Think before you leave your dog somwwhere with zero structure - excessive barking, lead pulling, failed recall, aggression, barking and lunging. Just a few behaviours my clients dogs show from their time in daycares with inexperienced staff.

We have so many amazing memories with the dogs it’s hard to get across how much progress they are making. Every dog is treated individually we take our time to build a bond and nurture each dogs strengths and help them overcome weaknesses. Some dogs take longer to build confidence and that’s fine by us….. we chip away each week even though this takes more time and work. We are not a ‘throw them all together and hope for the best’ business just to make as much money in a short time. We limit numbers to maximum 5 dogs per member of staff to ensure even on a 121 basis all the dogs get the time they need and deserve. We push for the best standards for the dogs and owners ✨🐾

Another busy week at the academy- we have seen huge progress in many of the dogs recently.

We focus on relationship, communication and then structured socialisation. We do not believe in a chaotic free roam approach. Step by step the dogs gain the skills they need such as recall, lead manners, functional obedience such as a long sit stay. One of the most important skills……. Listening to humans with big distractions!

⭐️⭐️⭐️We have 2 regular spaces available on Wednesday sessions and we will be opening up a Friday in the near future! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
