STOP taking your dogs out running in this heat. Seriously.

I’ve just seen people dragging dogs alongside them while out on runs with no water, in blazing heat, on boiling pavements. It’s not “exercise” at that point it’s cruel.

If the pavement is too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for their paws. Simple. Dogs can’t tell you when they’re overheating, dehydrated or in pain. By the time they collapse, it’s already gone too far.

Some of you need to realise your dog does NOT need a 5K run in 25 degree heat just because you do. Walk them early morning or late evening, keep them hydrated, and stop treating them like they’re built for this weather. They’re not.

No dog should be panting its heart out on scorching tarmac while its owner jogs along with headphones in pretending everything’s fine.

Use some common sense. Your dog relies on YOU to protect them..
