I’m still broken. Still self medicating responsibly! 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️🫠😳

If you like a longer bit of floof on your pups head, it needs to be long when they arrive - I don’t wield a magic wand and sadly cannot stick fur onto a do…so I just do my best to give you what you want!😆🤪🪄🫶🎉 (Incidentally, I can show you how to clear your dogs eyes so they can see, without giving them a unique forehead trim…or you can bob them to me for a mid groom bath and tidy…! Or even message to see if I can just whip off those little hairs!🤣😘🫶)

Otis was in for the works today, and for some reason, I wanted to call him Oscar. I wondered why he wasn’t responding to his “not-my-name!” 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Sorry buddy! I’ll try to get it right eventually!🤦🏻‍♀️🫠😘

Then when Jet and Benji arrived, mum informed me I’ve been grooming my little Jetski for 8 years! I remember taking her to college with me for an additional Spaniel Handstripping course I’d signed up to, to help me learn how to do a better job. She was as good as gold, and the course did us both well for a number of years, until Jet was speyed and her coat changed - making it less tolerable for her. I remembered taking her to college because I took my brand new puppy Ziva dog with us too. Ziva made the occasion even more memorable by chucking up on the passenger seat of my car on our way home. Oh the joys. 🤣🫶 I do miss my puppy,and I’m thankful that Jet gives me plenty of loves when she visits. 🫶

Jets little brother is Benji. He has 3.5 legs but you’d never guess - he’s a speedy little fella! He’s a really cutie patootie - and I think his hobbies since I last saw him, were specifically concentrated on growing his floof!! 🤣🫶😳

And then we have Lucy! Lucy loves me, (she came running up to me for scritches and belly rubs when she first arrived…!) until she realised she was here for a groom. Then she was not so keen🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 But she’s a good girl. She has a few allergies, so has been itching and licking herself raw, the fur around where she’s been licking was super matted, which is common. I refuse to make this patch on her foot more irritated, which I would have done had I brushed out the small mats, so I clipped short and applied some doggy friendly antiseptic spray ( Leucillin ) and allowed it to air dry.

All in all, a good week of beautiful dogs and wonderful owners!

Let’s hope this shoulder gets better with a few days rest🫶🤞😭🫶🫠

Thank you so very much to my beautiful clients today for being understanding.

I’ve apparently reached the age where you randomly wake up for absolutely no reason, in complete agony, which has made me a little slower and not quite on form! So thank you for being patient🫶😘

Please keep in mind, I’m on quite strong pain killers so things may not make sense….here we go!🤣🫶🤞

Oscar is a gorgeous boy, hates the dryer but we have a mutual understanding where I give him lots of praise for being a good boy, and he only chomps the blaster a few times. Once he’s dry, he’s back to being the bestest boy!🤣🫶🫠

Bailey boy! I love this boy almost as much as I love my kids, I really do. He’s an older chap, and as such, he deserves the time patience everyone does. l take my time, as I do with all my dogs - if he wants to lie down whilst I dry him, he gets to lie down….if he wants to have a rest, he can have a rest…if he doesn’t want his toes touching, we can come back to them… if he wants a fishy snack, he gets a fishy snack! No rushing, no stress, no drama…just gentle and slow progress. I’m not in any rush, I’d rather take my time, keeping my dogs comfortable and, more importantly, happy. 🫶

And then…I had whirlwind Max!! I am genuinely very lucky. This boy is the most placid cocker I’ve met. A few minutes of crazy playtime, and he settles into the session. He is handstripped, which is a slow process (check out how much I managed to strip - even with my gammy shoulder!😭🤣😭) but will help to keep his coat in beautiful condition, full of those gorgeous colours. He’s a good boy and is always allowed to sleep on the job if he so wishes, and being the baby he is, he takes full advantage of this clause in our agreement!🫶🤣

Right.

I’m off to see if I can stretch my shoulder, or to see if I can get comfy in bed and let this pain relief kick in. 🤞🤞🤞😘

If you like your doggy longer and fluffier, grooms need to be more frequent, if you like a shorter groom, your groomer can advise you on frequency 😍

I tell clients all the time, I won’t sell grooms that aren’t necessary, but I will advise you on how often your doggo should be booked in depending on the style, length, coat type and how much brushing you want to do at home 🫶

Chester chops was super duper tired after his jolliedays last week, he practically fell asleep standing up during his groom🤣🫶 Hope he had good snoozes when he got home after his groom🫶🫠

Mr Tobes was in between “Aroooofs!” waiting for dad to collect him, he was a tired boyo too after his big walks with mum in sunday! He was so tired he didn’t want his breakfast - so we made up for it with Schnacks and kisses at Aunty Kate’s😉🫶

Regular good boy Max-imus just wanted a good bath time this time - and he was as good as good can be! Ok, so he chomped at the dryer, which is totally the norm for this little dude, but he was a good boy for his suds so I’m calling that a WIN!🤣🫶😍

And new boy, Bramble, was so excited to visit, he did a little whoopsie in the bath - that’s completely fine buddy, what’s a bit of digested food waste between new friends eh? He was a good boy but it all went a bit t!t’s up in the last 5 minutes whilst we were waiting for dad…he jumped at the door, sent the full water bowl flying, soaked himself through…I cleaned that up and got him back on the table to dry him off…he took one look at the blaster again and let a number 1 slip out (and I’m not talking about Bryan Adam’s “Everything I Do”!) ….so what was originally a very calm and easy bath/deshed, turned into utter carnage in the space of 3 minutes…!🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I know it’s tempting to make the most of the warmer weather this weekend, but please, leave your doggos at home where it’s cooler.

Limit walks to early morning or later in the evening when it’s cooled down. It’s often hottest between 1pm and 6pm, so keep that in mind, and refrain from chucking their favourite ball to tire them out.

Dogs have never died from missing a walk, but they have sadly, from being overheated.

If they need a quick toilet walk, this should be limited, in the shade if possible. Remember to offer clean fresh water. Before, during and after.

If you’ve got one handy, a child’s paddling pool, or larger storage tub with some water in the garden, in the shade could provide a bit of heat relief for you and your pups!

Gorgeous Jorgie was in for her choppity chop…she’s a lovely girl, and I’ll bet she feels much better - she will certainly be able to stay comfy in the hotter weather now 🎉🫶

Wynston too! I had a play as Wynston whispered “Mustachio!” at me…and then I whipped it all off before mum saw…!🤪🤣🥸 He’s another very well behaved pup, days like today remind me how lucky I am to have such lovely dogs, and people in my life 🫶😍🥰

Happy Sunday, lovely Dazzlerz! Who’s enjoying that beautiful yellow thing in the sky today?! 🥳🥰🎉🌞🕶️

I wanted to share this with you. Not to blow any trumpets, but to show what sort of personal service you get from me - and from good independent Groomies who care about you and your dogs.

I groomed one of my lovely regulars a few weeks ago, and noticed a new, small lump that I’d not remembered seeing before. When he was collected, I mentioned it to mum, with my usual advice - if you have any concerns over it, or it it changes in size/shape quickly, or if it starts to bother him, please see his Dogtor to get it checked out. Most of the time, these things are nothing to worry about - but I’m not a vet. I just see and touch your dogs with fresh eyes every 6-8 weeks so notice what’s normal for them, and what’s new.

So when mum messaged me yesterday to say the dogtor tests had come back all clear, and to know my advice had helped/put minds at ease/been noticed that I’m doing something right - and by other pet professionals too, it made me all emosh! 🫶🥰

We do worry about your beloved pets, we do treat them and we absolutely love them like they are our own. 🥰🫶😘
