We are lucky enough to have some amazing supporters here at Home Run Hounds Greyhound Charity No 1209071.

One of our supporters here at the Romford branch is Georgia, who is Head Nurse at one of the local vet practices in Kent which the charity uses. Georgia, who has been involved in the Greyhound world since a small child, was keen to support the charity and has kindly offered to do a sponsored 12000ft skydive! 🪂 Which will take place on Saturday 8th August at Headcorn Airfield in Kent. This is an incredible challenge and we can all safely say Georgia is braver than we are!
We will all be there to support her on the day, and 100% of monies raised will go to support the Greyhounds in our care. Depending on the amount raised we will purchase an item or 2 that will benefit the dogs which will be shared online after the jump, so donors are able to see a tangible benefit for the dogs in our care.

💙MONZA💙

Meet the wonderful lad that is Monza, who turn 3 years old in May!

Being one of the larger boys in the kennel, weighing in around 37kg, and being a black boy too, we are worried that Monza will be overlooked for rehoming as people may be put off by his size and colour. So we’re hoping that the power of social media can help us! This boy also comes with a large heart and a lot of love to give!
He has the best puppy dog eyes you’ll ever have seen (well try and get a photo!).

Having recently retired from racing, Monza will be ready for homing in around 3 weeks but he’s available for viewing from now whilst we prepare him for his next chapter!

We just love to hear how our retired hounds are getting on in their retirements and are so grateful to all our hounds new owners/families who send us lovely updates! Whether homed directly from us or through one of the charities that we work with - updates are always so appreciated!

Whilst ice cream might not be suitable for all dogs, it certainly goes down a treat in moderation!

🐈Cat Test Success!🐈

Handsome Jasper absolutely aced his cat test yesterday…inquisitive but nice and calm - happily taking fusses and treats from the humans rather than paying attention to the cat!

Cat Louis was the perfect kitty for us, happy enough for Jasper to have a sniff but also jumping on furniture and running in/out of the room which really let us see how Jasper would be in a home environment with a cat.

Naturally, each home and cat is different and care/caution will need to be exercised before allowing muzzle free interactions. However we can officially mark Jasper as “cat workable”!

Thank you to Louis and family for having us! You guys were great and Jasper thoroughly enjoyed his visit! 🥰

📢 Help Needed📢

Do we have any followers local to Wickford that may be able to support us with cat testing? Unfortunately our previous family that helped us with this have moved away from the area.

We have a potentially cat workable hound that could have a home waiting if he is suitable - but we need to test him!

The cat must be comfortable/confident with dogs, we don’t want to cause the cat any stress! Naturally the test would be controlled, with the hound muzzled throughout.

It might have been a wet one, but it was a successful one!
Our latest small dog testing saw 5 hounds all pass with flying colours, setting them up well for that step closer to their forever homes!
All of our hounds waiting for homing are small dog friendly 🥳
