PCs Holding and Gough in Caithness visited the Horsin’ Around Stables in Lyth to speak with owner Natalie Oag, promoting Speed Awareness on rural roads in relation to Equestrian facilities.

With the arrival of spring and lighter nights, more horse riders are out on Hacks, with this there is also an increase in motor vehicles on these roads enjoying the sunnier days.

We will be using speed detection devices past Equestrian facilities to challenge poor driver behaviour, educate motorists on the risks they pose to horse riders and staff, detect serious road traffic offences and reduce the number of near misses both on the roads and paddocks adjacent to where horses are being exercised, working together with the communities in Caithness to keep people safe.
