Green Wheel Dogs is exactly what I always wanted for my own dogs. It is a ‘one-stop shop’ for all my dogs needs with qualified and reliable people who are in this job for the right reasons. Our dogs are our family, and yours become an extension of that family when they are in our care. Dogs make our lives so much better, we make sure we reward them with days designed to

enrich their lives. Canines are by nature pack animals, which means that they are designed to be around other dogs. Of course, this isn’t always what’s best for individual dogs, when previous life experiences get in the way, but for the most part we make sure that dogs learn safe communication and interaction with other dogs. We offer a fully licensed, insured and controlled environment, where your dogs can explore, socialise and most importantly play. Our team is made up of Phil and Adam (The humans) and Alfie, Doris and Murphy (The core pack). Both Humans bring a wealth of experience working with animals to make sure we are qualified to deliver our promised service to our clients. Phil started working with much larger animals in zoo environments, completing his Degree in Zoology from the University of Lincoln with First Class Honours. This degree included modules such as Animal health and disease, Animal behaviour and Canine training. Working with Tigers and Monkeys may not bear many similarities to doggy daycare environment, but helped establish a general passion for animal care, health and wellbeing. City and Guilds qualification in Dog Grooming followed on from this, with the desire to offer yet another service in a place where dogs already feel safe and comfortable. Combining this with Dog first aid, and a level 3 qualification in Canine Care, behaviour and welfare we can be confident in the services we offer. Working as a veterinary nurse for many years prior to starting at Green Wheel Dogs, Adam has a great knowledge of Health and disease, safety protocols, dog behaviour, safe handling of dogs and dog first aid. With previous experience working with the RSPCA, Adam is also in tune with dogs with slightly more complex needs, and has plenty of experience walking dogs of all sizes. What we offer:

Daycare – Our primary service is daycare. We offer daycare in a home environment where your dog is likely to feel much more comfortable. With more home comforts, your dogs can focus on socialisation with their new friends. Daycare is regular slots only, meaning your dogs will be with the same group each week. Running from 8am to 7pm every weekday and including two walks. We collect the dogs from your house and drop them home afterwards. Walks last 45 minutes to an hour, exploring fields and woodland. Dog grooming – One-to-One grooming is much more intimate and reassuring for your dogs. We all know that some dogs do not like to be groomed. It is not a natural environment for them and there are lots of stress inducing factors. Our aim is to provide a calm and quiet space where these stresses can be alleviated as much as possible. No cages and no waiting around. Home Boarding – Weekend only service offering overnight stays. Your dogs eat and sleep in their own room, however spend the rest of their time with the group in our home. They are never left alone, and are fully integrated into the smaller group of dogs with us on the weekends. Meet-the-dogs Monday 💚 

This week it's pretty girl Olives turn! Olive is another of one of our longest standing daycare dogs! We've been looking after Olive for nearly five years now! Olive is definitely the IT girl here at greenwheel. All the other dogs, especially the other girl dogs, love her confident playful nature. However, dispite Olive having lots of girl besties her favourite dog to play with is still Rodney! They have a special bond and a similar style of rough play which includes tug-of-war, wrestling, chase and stalking each other 😂 When Olive isn't busy playing with all her friends one of her favourite things to do is "hunt" flies! We say hunt but it's more like stalk as we are yet to see her actually catch one! However this doesn't seem to deter her 😂 Olive is also a needy girl, she often demands a cuddle throughout the day by practically siting on our feet and hold strong eye contact 😂 and she still gets super excited to see us every week!

Olive is a joy to look after and has kept us entertained over the years with her crazy playful antics 🫶🏻

Meet-the-dogs Monday 💚 

This week it's Rodney's turn! Despite Rodney's resting grump face he isn't actually grumpy, well he's not grumpy all of the time anyway 😂 Rodney is quite a young dog but he does have the personality of a rather older gentleman, one who is set in his ways, one who likes what he likes and likes who he likes! Rodney is another of our OG's, he's been coming to daycare for nearly five years now! During that time we're proud to say we've made it on to the short list of people that Rodney does like 😂 Being on this list does come with some responsibilities. Such as giving Rodney all of his favourite things, which includes- feeding Rodney treats, rubbing Rodney's belly, playing tug-of-war and the most important one of all is to cuddle Rodney just like a baby! And of course we love doing all of these things! Rodney is a playful boy too he loves to play and is some what of a pro at tug-of-war, usually winning against dogs much bigger than himself but his favourite dog to play with is definitely Olive!  We have loved looking after Rodney over the years and he has given us lots of laughs along the way! 🫶🏻

Meet-the-dogs Monday 💚 

This week we're showing some love for the dog that started it all. The second ever dog to join us here at greenwheel and that dog is of course Harley! Harley originally started coming to daycare as a temporary solution, while his parents  had some work done at home. Reason being, Harley was so happy and excited to see the builders every day that they couldn't possibly get any work done whilst he was there 😂 Turns out Harley absolutely loved daycare and has been coming to greenwheel once a week for the last five years! Harley is possibly the most excitable dog we have ever looked after, and he is the happiest of boys 100% of the time! Harley's happy, playful energy is definitely infectious as we haven't had one single dog meet him that isnt obsessed with him and that doesn't immediately  start playing with him. Harley is definitely the most popular kid here at greenwheel. It comes as no surprise that Harley's favourite thing to do is play with the other dogs but Harley also loves any attention from people too. Harley loves attention so much so he struggles to contain his excitement! Harley's bum wiggles uncontrollably and he occasionally lets out an excited wee! Over the years we have become wise to Harley excited wees but there have been a few wet feet when saying good morning 🤦🏻😂

Meet-the-dogs Monday 💚

This week it's a Robin appreciation post! This big adorable ball of fluff is another of our OG's, Robin joined us just a few months after opening! Robin is very popular here at greenwheel which is no surprise, with his high energy and his sweet and playful nature, all the other dogs just love him! Robin's favourite thing to do is play! You'll always catch Robin playing, whether is playing with toys, other dogs or playing with us, but Robin's favourite game to play has to be chase! Which is probably because he's super fast and the other dogs struggle to catch him 😂 Robin will take any opportunity to show how much of a speedy boy he is, that whenever we change direction on our walk Robin will be the first to respond to "this way" by running as fast as he can in the right direction in hopes that some of the other dogs will chase him. Robin is also a superstar when it comes to lead walking too! In fact Robin is an all round good boy when he is here with us. Robin currently comes to daycare three days a week and frequently spends weekends with us, we're always happy to have extra days with Robs! Robin wouldn't be the lovely dog he is today or such a joy to look after without the hard work and effort his mum has put into training him! We really are grateful to have been able to care for and watch robin grow from a tiny fluff ball over that past four or so years 🫶🏻

Meet-the-dogs Monday 💚

This week we're showing some appreciation for big boy Reggie! Reggie wasn't so big when he first joined us here at greenwheel, but that was about four years ago when he was just a little baby! As you can see Reggie isn't just a handsome boy, he's also a playful goof ball. Reggie is a gentle giant and he loves to play with the other doggos. He even plays nicely with all the small dogs, despite his size. Reggie comes to daycare every Thursday and is loved by all the other doggos! Despite Reggie's playful antics his favourite thing is probably having a cuddle, staying nice and warm and cosy. Reggie's loves to say warm and cosy so much that even in the slightest bit of rain he refuses to leave the dog barn! However, when Reggie emerges from his slumber he always stretches into a play bow, whilst his bum is in the air he lets out a little fart! 😅 This never fails to make us laugh and we have become somewhat disappointed if the stretch isn't followed by a fart 😂 Another of Reggie's favourite things to do is walking through or standing between our legs. What Reggie doesn't realise is that not everyone is as tall as Reggie's parents. So we have become skilled at balancing on our tiptoes 😂

We love looking after Reggie every Thursday and are so happy to have been able to witness him grow into the goodest of handsome boys 🫶🏻

Meet-the-dogs Monday! 💚

This week it's Maisie's turn! Maisie is definitely the popular kid here at greenwheel. It's no surprise really, as Maisie loves everyone and everything. So in return, she is adored by every dog and person that meets her. Maisie is such a happy girl, in fact Maisie has one of the happiest wiggly bums at greenwheel. Maisie is also one of the neediest dogs we've ever met, attention is her favourite thing! 😂 That is why we very rarely catch Maisie on her own. She is either playing with someone or getting a cuddle from us or one of the dogs. Maisie was just a teeny tiny puppy when she started. She has been coming to daycare twice a week for over three years now and is always super excited to see all of her doggy friends.
Maisie truly is a delight to look after and she always manages to make everyones day a bit more fun 🫶🏻

Zoo animals to pet care

I have always loved animals. Always. Just didn’t know exactly what that could mean for me in terms of my career. I had always pictured me surrounded by animals at all times. I imagined it would be animals much larger and less cuddly than dogs. That’s when I found Alfie and fell in love. A cocker spaniel changed my life and I will not apologise for how corny that sounds.

At 18, I decided to learn more about the animal kingdom and immerse myself fully in it. Thats when I chose to do my undergraduate degree in Zoology. I graduated with a BSC in Zoology with First Class honours back in 2018. This included very varied topics, many of which support me in the day to day running of Green Wheel Dogs. Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Animal Health and Disease, Animal Anatomy and Physiology and Ecology. They really opened my eyes to the amazing world of animals and all it has to offer.

After graduating it took me a while to find my feet. In December of 2018 I bought my house in Stanground, Peterborough. Whilst working Part time I was taking in dogs for the weekends, sometimes using annual leave just to stay home and play with them. Then, in march 2020, I decided to make my dream happen. I want to work with animals every day, I want to spend as much time with my Alfie and I want to make sure that I can provide a lovely place for peoples dogs to have their very own vacations: Green Wheel Dogs is born.
