Hey everyone 😁, with the heat wave 🥵☀️ arriving tomorrow (eww), here’s some important info you should all know to keep your four-legged 🐶💖🐶 family members safe and well.

Due to the potentially dangerous temperatures we sadly 😢 won’t be walking for the next couple of days, but come Wednesday we’ll be back to normal.

On days where it’s hot, but NOT dangerous, here’s a few things we do with our dogs to help keep them as cool 🧊 and comfortable 😊 as we can:

🐾🎾 We wet their chests with cool water 💦. The chest is where dogs naturally lose heat, so wetting that area well will give them some relief.
DON’T ❌ wet their backs as that water will just heat up in the 🌞.

🐾🎾 We carry plenty of water 💦 and offer it as often as we feel the dogs need it. Could be every 20 mins⌚️or so. We also pay close attention 👀 to our dogs and it’s usually obvious to us when they want a drink.
In fact, a few of our 🐶s have actually learned that water comes from the back pack, so if we’ve stopped somewhere and the bag is on the ground, they’ll go stand next to it to let us know they want a drink💧. Think that’s pretty awesome! 😎😁
Also to note, a couple of physical signs that they’re typically more in need are spittyness/drooling increases, and their panting 👅 is heavier. They’ll obviously also be more in need after playing/running round.

🐾🎾 We walk 👣 at a slower pace than usual, and will slow down even further if we can see the dogs need it.

🐾🎾 We limit playing 🤪 with any toys 🎾⚽️🧸 that cause them to exert themselves.

🐾🎾 We walk in the shade 😎 as much as we can and we’ll stop and take regular breaks, always paying attention to the 🐶s to see when they really need it and when they’re good to keep going.
During the breaks, we’ll give them some water 💦 and the bowl will sit out until we move on again so they can drink when they want 😁. We’ll also often get the dogs to sit or lie down if they aren’t doing it themselves, because some dogs sometimes have a hard time saying still, so it’s important we help them. 👍

🐾🎾 Finally we’ll go to places where we know there is water so the dogs can swim and play and lie in it, and naturally cool themselves.
Beaches🏖/rocks are obviously great so they can go in the 🌊sea 🌊, and 🌳🍃Holywell Dene🍃🌳 is another favourite 😍 location of ours. It’s so vast, mostly in the shade so it’s usually a few degrees cooler, and the 💦river💦 runs right through it so the 🐶s have plenty of opportunities to thoroughly soak themselves 😂.

Oh and one last thing. Cool mats are filled with gel and don’t need to be frozen or filled with water. They always stay cold so they could be a great investment to help keep your dogs nice and happy 😁 in the warm weather.

Thanks everyone for reading if you got this far, 😂 ###

07.03.22. Here’s the last shots we took, on our last day there. Three gorgeous😍, content 😁 boys sleeping 😴 soundly after their last hour walk with us before their family came home.

Rolf😘💕 (brown), Nick😘💕 (black) and Hobo😘💕.

This was our third time looking after these beautiful dogs, and it was a pleasure. Tiring, but wonderful. All three are sweet🥰, and funny🤪, and loving😘, all in their own ways, and again after some sad goodbyes it was time to head home.

Just want to say thank you to their family for entrusting them to us, it means more than you know, and we’ll see them again soon 🐶💖😘🐶💖😘🐶💖😘 ###

07.03.22: This was sadly our last day with the dogs before we had to go home and we didn’t take many snaps either 😢.

But after Hobo💕went inside, too chilly 🥶 for him, I took a few of Rolf💕 and Nick💕 (black) as we made our way around the 🌾first field🌾 with the frost ❄️ beneath our feet.

I think we, well if I’m being honest, Rolf 😂, also lost a 🎾 for the first time in the week that we’d been there. Searched for it for 10-15 mins but to no avail.

But luckily we found it on the boys second walk of the day. Yay! 😁

Oh and there’s a couple of pretty shots of the sunrise ☀️ too ###

06.03.22: Out on the boys third and final walk of the day and the ☀️ has decided to smile on us properly for the first time. Yay! 🥳

So here’s a chilled little 🎞 of Hobo💕 (speckled), Rolf💕 (brown) and Nick💕 being their lovely😘 selves as we made our way around the 🌾second field🌾.

You’ll see Hobo being super cute ☺️, and Rolf using his nose to find his 🎾, while Nick proudly carried his around ###

06.03.22: An afternoon game of tug-of-war between Amie and Hobo💕. Nick💕 tried to join in but it wasn’t his game, and that’s Rolf💕 going after his ball🎾.

Oh and if you’re wondering why Amie says “dead”, it’s because these three are working gun dogs and that’s the word they’ve been taught to release whatever is in their mouths ###

9 month old Rolf💖 and 11 yr old Hobo💖 together. How adorable 🥰 is Hobo’s little face holding his toy?! 🧸###

06.03.22: The boys 🐶🐶🐶 had already had their 45 min morning walk and their breakfast, and relaxed/slept😴 for a few hrs, and then it was time for their second walk.

Amie had them out for an hr (Hobo did 30-40 mins) and took some beautiful shots of them having a great time 😜. The sun had come out and so they were enjoying 😁the warmer weather ☀️.

In case you don’t know who’s who, Rolf’s 💖 the 9 month old brown one, Hobo’s💖 the 11yr old speckled one, and Nick💖 is the 4yr old black one. Obviously 😂 ###

05.03.22: The 🐶🐶🐶 had another 2 walks during the day, interspersed with play 🧸🎾🤪, pee/💩 outings, sleep 😴 and love💖 from us, but we didn’t take any more 🌅/🎞 this day, sorry 😢 ###

05.03.22: Out at 07:00 on a ❄️frosty❄️ morning.

It was actually lovely because even though there was frost on the ground, it wasn’t too cold 🥶 so you could really appreciate the beauty. And it was only made even more beautiful by these three gorgeous 😍 faces! Hobo💕, Nick💕 (black) and Rolf💕 (brown) ###

The younger two (Rolf and Nick) can run for days bless them. They flipping love it ❤️! ###
