This so-called ban on trail hunting isn’t about animal welfare.
It’s about class war.

A Labour Party government, once again, targeting rural Britain because it’s easy, fashionable, and politically convenient.

Make no mistake what this really means:

•Hundreds of hounds will be destroyed – packs cannot simply be “rehomed”

•Thousands of rural jobs lost – grooms, kennel staff, farriers, vets, feed suppliers, hauliers

•Village economies hollowed out – pubs, shows, local businesses hit hard

•A way of life erased by people who have never set foot in the countryside

This isn’t reform — it’s eradication.

Urban politicians lecturing rural communities on morality while destroying livelihoods they don’t understand is not progress. It’s prejudice dressed up as virtue.

If this were happening to any other minority culture, there’d be outrage.
But because it’s rural Britain, it’s apparently fair game.

This isn’t animal welfare.
It’s ideology over reality.
And rural communities will pay the price.

The Llanboidy village fireworks display is on Wed 5 Nov, it is a great event. Please support it rather than having private displays.

That way we can plan the care of our horses. Unexpected displays can cause anxiety to horses and owners, and in some cases injury and damage to property.

Worth reading and being aware

Following a rise in enquiries regarding current strangles in the South Wales area, we are resharing some information that may be helpful on our website. You can access this by clicking on the link below. It includes an overview written by our medicine specialist Shaun and a leaflet issued by the British Horse Society, which details symptoms to look out for within.

https://www.cottsequine.co.uk/post/strangles-what-you-need-to-know

One of the key issues in the spread of Strangles is the acceptance of new horses onto a yard with the results from only one negative blood test. However, this blood test alone does NOT detect asymptomatic carriers and as such, we would encourage our clients to test using guttural pouch wash samples submitted for PCR instead.

This is a complicated and understandably concerning topic, and we are aware that the information can seem overwhelming. To that end, please be aware that if you have any concerns or questions at all, please call us. We are here to help.

Worth logging your thoughts on this survey

🐴 Are you a horse owner or sharer?

🎆 Fireworks were debated in parliament recently but there is a lack of evidence to show the extent to which they can affect animals or people.

Redwings wants to help address that evidence gap and has launched a short survey for horse owners.

https://survey.alchemer.eu/s3/90784374/26b17eddc85e

📝 We'd love to hear from anyone over 16 who owns, loans or shares an equine in the UK! The survey should only take a few minutes to complete and will make a real difference as we continue communications with government ministers and MPs in 2025.

Please share widely to help us reach as many horse owners as possible!
