🥬🐰 Fresh leafy greens have many benefits in a rabbit's diet!

They help encourage natural foraging behaviours, provide enrichment, and add variety to your rabbit's daily meals.

You can find a range of rabbit safe greens at your local supermarket, including:
• Romaine lettuce
• Spring greens
• Curly kale
• Carrot tops
• Parsley

🌱 Green thumb? Why not plant a herb or vegetable garden for your bunnies to enjoy?

You can also forage a variety of rabbit safe plants while out on a walk, including:
• Blackberry leaves
• Dandelions
• Rose leaves and petals
• Lemon balm
• Ribwort plantain

⚠️ Please thoroughly wash all foraged plants before feeding them to your rabbits to help reduce the risk of disease transmission, including Myxomatosis and Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (RVHD).

🌾 Remember, fresh greens should be fed alongside unlimited access to good-quality hay, not as a substitute for it.

When introducing new greens, offer one type at a time and monitor your rabbit's faecal output for any changes.

🐰 RABBIT AWARENESS WEEK 2026 STARTS IN 2 DAYS! 🐰
We thought we would start by letting you in on some bunny facts.

STARTING WITH CECOTROPHS
Yes, you read that correctly... Rabbits do eat their own faeces, and it's a vital part of their diet, helping them gain every bit of nutrition from their food.

Caecotrophs look different from normal faeces. They are soft, shiny and smelly. Rabbits normally eat them directly from their bottom as they are produced, and you should only see the pellets themselves every once in a while.

WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK OUT FOR?
If you are seeing these droppings, which can resemble a bunch of grapes, frequently in your rabbit's house or sometimes stuck to their bottom, we would urge a vet visit, as it may be caused by an underlying issue such as arthritis or a digestive problem.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Rabbit poos tell us a lot about how their tummies are feeling. As rabbits are prey animals, watching out for changes in their faeces can help us identify when they are feeling unwell before they start to show more symptoms and become more poorly.
