KT's K9 Academy

Offering a range of dog training services and classes throughout Derby/Notts/Burton and local areas I'm Katie and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I have a Foundation Science Degree in Veterinary Nursing and have been a qualified nurse for over 10 years. I have an Advanced Certificate in Canine Veterinary Nursing which covers dog stress, behaviour and training. I believe that having a well trained and socialised dog not only makes them a healthier and happier dog but also creates a massive bond between owner and dog. We currently offer two d

ifferent types of positive reward based dog classed which are based at Weston-On-Trent Village Hall. The Puppy Socialisation Classes run for a 4 week course and are suitable for puppies ranging from after their 1st vaccinations up to the age of 6 months. We cover socialisation with dogs, people and children, the vets and many other things. We also start to learn basic commands, health checking and behavioural problems. The Dog Obedience Classes are a beginner class and are based on the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme Bronze Award. These are run for an 8 week course and are available for dogs over the age of 6 months old. These are group sessions and dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds and behaviour are able to attend these courses. They cover all basic obedience such as sit, down, stand, walking to heel, recall, wait and much more. Finally we offer a 121 service for people after that more personal experience. This involves a 2 hour initial consultation to work on the concerns as well as a full written training plan and continued phone support. these are available at requested locations.

🖤🧡 SUMMER EVENTS FOR YOUR DIARY 🧡🖤

✅️ 4th July - League of Friends Summer Fayre - Kingsway Hospital.
Well have a stall selling all our treats and goodies to help raise money for the hospital. Pop along and see us!
✅️ 18th July - Canine First Aid Training and Workshop - Weston-On-Trent Village Hall.
Learn all the basics needed including bandaging, CPR, toxins, seizures and much more. £25 per person, go home with a certificate of completion and an essential doggy first aid kit included in the price.

✅️ 22nd & 23rd August - Dog Lovers Festival - Elvaston Castle.
We're here selling all our goodies and treats to the dogs of Derby - pop along for purchases, a chat about training or just to say hi and have a catch up! Well also be giving a demonstration in the main ring!! Let's hope Flynn doesn't get stage fright!

Jess was back this week! 💗💗
So we made it a little bit harder for the Beginner Obedience Dogs by adding not only Jess but Flynn as a distraction into the middle of the hall!
I mean let's face it who can resist.. both Jess or Flynn 🖤🧡‼️

🌞 ☀️ ITS HOT ☀️🌞
Dogs dont tolerate the heat aswell as we do it... and let's face it we arent tolerating it so well at the moment!!
Cool coats and cool mats are a great way at keeping your pooches cool during this heat - here's Jarvis (one of our VIP Dogs!) Showing off his cool coat and mat!
Frozen Kongs and Lick mats also help keep them cool aswell as providing mental stimulation whilst walks cant occur 🖤🧡
