Building better movement, one pole at a time.

Linear pole work may look simple, but it’s incredibly effective when used correctly. Working the horse in a long and low frame encourages relaxation through the topline while allowing lift through the thoracic sling. This promotes correct posture and enables true core engagement, rather than compensatory movement patterns.

As the horse negotiates the poles, proprioception (body awareness) is challenged, helping to improve coordination, balance, and accuracy of limb placement. This is especially important for both rehabilitation horses relearning correct movement, and competition horses needing precision and efficiency in their work.

The poles also encourage an increased range of motion through the joints and spine, supporting joint health, flexibility, and overall way of going. Over time, this translates to improved strength, symmetry, and movement quality.

A simple setup with huge benefits—whether you’re rehabbing, strengthening, or refining performance.

There’s nothing quite like seeing the results of hard work come together in the ring ✨

A huge well done to this combination (Holly Coward-Talbot and Clever Boy Jun) jumping some super rounds in the 1.40m classes at Compiègne this week 👏

High-level performance isn’t just about talent—it’s about a body that can cope with the demands being asked of it. Strength through the core, elasticity over the back, and power from behind all have to come together to produce rounds like this.

Regular physiotherapy plays a key role in keeping these athletes feeling their best—addressing tightness before it becomes restriction, supporting recovery between competitions, and helping maintain correct movement patterns under pressure.

This combination made it look effortless, but there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to keep a horse jumping at this level consistently.

Very proud to support this journey 🐎💫

Hi Everyone 👋
May and June are filling up quickly and I now have very limited availability remaining, so please do get your appointments booked in sooner rather than later. I always hate having to let anyone down, especially when your horse needs support, so securing your slot early is the best way to avoid disappointment. I do still have a few days left in April if you’re hoping to be seen sooner, so feel free to get in touch to arrange a visit.

During treatment of significant poll restriction, visible longitudinal skin folding can sometimes be observed. This is not superficial “loose skin” but rather a reflection of underlying myofascial tension patterns.

The poll is a critical junction for both stability and movement, integrating directly with the nuchal ligament, splenius, semispinalis capitis, brachiocephalicus and the dorsal cervical fascia. Through these structures, tension at the atlanto-occipital region can transmit along the entire dorsal cervical chain.

In cases of chronic restriction at the poll, sustained tension develops throughout this interconnected fascial network. As we begin to mobilise and release that restriction, the tension redistributes through the fascial system. If the fascia is tight, adhered or lacking glide, the skin can temporarily fold or ripple along those lines of restriction.

As tissue hydration, glide and neuromuscular regulation improve, this visible wrinkling typically diminishes.

Importantly, significant poll restriction rarely exists in isolation. It is often associated with mid-cervical bracing, altered proprioceptive input, thoracic sling inefficiency and compensatory patterns further along the kinetic chain.

Observing these superficial fascial changes can provide valuable clinical feedback regarding tissue quality and force distribution during treatment. Addressing the entire myofascial chain (rather than focusing solely on the poll) is essential for restoring efficient posture, comfortable movement and sustainable performance.

Seeing horses perform, move, and feel their best is exactly why I do what I do 💫

Client feedback like this means the world to me — every horse is treated as an individual, whether they’re out competing, training hard, or enjoying life as a happy hacker.

Regular physiotherapy can make such a difference to comfort, performance, and long-term soundness, and it’s a privilege to be part of each horse’s journey 💆‍♀️🐎

If you’d like to book a session or find out how physiotherapy could help your horse, feel free to drop me a message 🤍

Hi Everyone, I wanted to share a quick update. Following the MRI on my ankle, it’s shown two fractures along with severe ligament damage. Unfortunately this means I won’t be able to return to work until mid January to allow proper healing and recovery.
I’m so sorry to everyone whose appointments I’ve had to cancel- I truly appreciate your patience, understanding and kindness while I focus on getting back to full strength.

If you’d like to start getting booked in for mid January onwards, please feel free to message me and I’ll get you scheduled.
Thank you for all the support- it really means more than you know ❤️

Hi Everyone,
I’m really sorry to say that I have had to cancel upcoming appointments after taking a nasty fall to my ankle and knee. I’m currently waiting for an MRI scan to understand the full extent of the damage, and until I have those results I won’t know exactly when I’ll be able to get back to work.

I genuinely hate letting anyone down, and I really appreciate your patience and kindness while I focus on healing. As soon as I have a clearer idea of my recovery timeline, I’ll start rebooking everyone in straight away.

Thank you for understanding, it means a lot ❤️

⭐️We have one rare space left for our next physio-polework clinic on the 6th July🐴⭐️

Polework is one of the most frequent exercises I recommend to clients because of its numerous advantages. Polework may be extremely beneficial during rehabilitation and maintenance since it improves active range of motion across the limbs, activates the core muscles, increases proprioception, and increases musculature.

Specialised training programmes Incorporating polework can target specific weaknesses or imbalances identified during a physiotherapy session. This clinic is suitable for all from in hand to ridden competition horses.

The day entails a 30 minute physiotherapy assessment, pre ride dynamic mobilisation stretches and warm up techniques. Followed by a 30 minute individual tailored exercise incorporating polework to address any weakness during the physiotherapy assessment.

£50 for the clinic, and a 50% deposit to reserve your spot. Deposits are non transferable and non refundable if cancelled 48 hours prior to your slot.
