We’re on a roll this week folks! 😂

Stealing this one: “frame of body is frame of mind”.

Fascia, biochemistry, biomechanics, physiology. Simple when you think about it.

What an opportunity to learn 📚

Having attended a 3 day seminar with Jochen several years ago, I can safely say for starters he will open your eyes to a whole new world of horse/saddle/rider biomechanics and interaction 🏇

Just completed a purchase for a piece of kit all the way from New Zealand 🇳🇿 which will give some fascinating feedback on rider balance.

The information can be recorded so you can measure your consistency and how any exercises are helping you improve 👩🏼‍🏫

Not long to go now before the launch of the new adventure 😄 I might be on the hunt for a few volunteers to be Guinea Pigs….so keep an eye out for the updates 🏇

Backwards walking isn’t just reverse action 👇

The ‘back-up’ is a key exercise used in rehabilitation and now we have new evidence to support its effectiveness!

Eldridge et al. (2025) found unique hip extensor muscle activation and increased stifle and hock flexion with backwards walking.

This results of this study support the clinical use of this exercise to improve hind limb strength, stability, coordination and range of movement 👏👏

Assignments well under way for the bit and bridle fitting qualifications, with a little “help” from my furry friend.

Keep an eye out on developments, super excited to combine my new knowledge with all things biomechanics 🏇 and really help you all get the best performance from you and your horse 💪🏻

So this is an American charity that I’ve been following for a while. They go to the slaughterhouse holding facility to rescue horses who are being held before being shipped to Canada or Mexico to meet a very gruesome end.

I know they’re not uk based, and I know that this happens (sadly) worldwide all the time.

But goodness me these two women have such guts and determination. I couldn’t do what they do.

Making donations to their cause couldn’t be easier.

Please have a look and consider helping if you can.

Thank you 🙏🏻

It’s a balmy 28 degrees at 20:30 this evening in the Cotswolds 🥵So here’s a useful bit of info about keeping your horse cool courtesy of Hook Norton Vets to peruse whilst you slip your cooling Saturday night tipple 🥂

With environmental temperatures increasing through the summer, how can we prevent heat exhaustion and cool horses following exercise?

How is this a year ago already? 😢

We’ve had a few messages lately asking about water treadmill sessions. Just to confirm that the water treadmill is still taking its sabbatical, so sadly we aren’t able to help at this stage.

There is however some other exciting news to share: I recently enrolled on a bit and bridle fitting course which I’m hoping to complete shortly. Huge emphasis (and rightly so!) is placed on the horse/saddle/rider interaction, however little is considered on the influence of the horse/bit/bridle/rider dynamic. The biomechanics of correct bit and bridle fit has a HUGE impact on the way the horse performs and it’s really exciting to be able to utilise the years of human and animal chiropractic training to out yet another piece of the equine puzzle together 🤩

I will keep you updated with progress and hopefully see you soon for some assessments! 🏇

It’s seems to be the week for sharing 🥰 Please have a read and have a long hard look at the rehab rule book you’re operating under 🙏🏻

"In order for the body to heal, we have to take it out of the environment it became sick in"

I spend a lot of time telling people to stop riding their horses. And I really get that this can be down right inconvenient.

But I'm an optimiser.

And when I'm looking at helping a horse's posture to neutralise, quite frankly it can be quicker, easier and far more ethical to teach a horse to find postural neutral without a rider and then teach the rider to maintain that, than it is to teach a rider to fix the posture under saddle.

Particularly when the horses crappy posture developed because of unsympathetic riding, a saddle that wasn't designed to fit any horse, let alone that one, or an instructor who has no understanding that to safeguard a horse's performance, they might need to know how their bodies truly work rather than have committed to FEI rulebook to heart.

I'm totally not saying there aren't people skilled enough to rehabilitate horses whilst riding them, but I would really like to invite you to consider that just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Because though you might enjoy it, doesn't mean your horse does.

And "it'll be good for you in the long run" doesn't mean it's fair on your horse in the moment.

So if we can do it more simply, in a way that sees the horse for more than just what we can do to their bodies and what they can do for us...

Why don't we?
