We have taken extra precautions this week to make sure your pooches are safe in the salon in this heat ☀️ 🥵
We have a fantastic air con unit which works really well up until the early afternoon.
We have also decided to close early every day this week, making sure there are no appointments in after 2pm latest as the heat really does ramp up around 3pm onwards and even our aircon unit struggles to keep up!
We will also take it day by day and if we absolutely have to cancel your appointment we will do our best to fit you in asap. We will only cancel if the salon is too hot and we think your dog’s safety is at risk.
Please make sure you aren’t walking your dogs to their appointment, (it’s too hot to be outside in this weather!) and offer them plenty of water throughout the day.
Also if you aren’t already, make yourself aware of the signs of heatstroke in a dog and keep a close eye on them.
Some signs to look out for are; excessive panting, drooling, red gums, vomiting, dizziness/stumbling when getting up and extreme tiredness. Make sure to cool your dog down first before transporting them to a vet, you can do this by submerging their paws in cool water, spraying cool water over their stomach or wetting their armpits/groin and/or offering cool water for them to drink.
Try not to cover your dog’s face with water because if they are already struggling with breathing, this will only make it worse!
Pay extra attention to short nosed dogs such as pugs, elderly dogs and overweight dogs as they are more likely to overheat!
Everybody stay safe! ☀️ 🥵
