No Hospital shift this morning so filled up my diary with appointments and groomed instead 🤗 First dog through the door was Jacko the Cavapoo, his fur can get quite long but it doesn’t tangle or matt which is unusual for a curly coated breed, I clipped him to 1cm with my comb attachments. Next was Betsy a Cockapoo, her appointment was at 11am so it meant I listened to the Paddy McGuinness show from start to finish while grooming her which was a bonus. After lunch Teagan the Cocker Spaniel turned up, she had spent the morning running around Marbury Park off lead so I imagine she is fast asleep 💤 now.

Went to Willowsway Cat Rescue coffee ☕️ morning first thing but didn’t stay too long, there were kittens 🐱 and cake 🍰 which gave Rex a sensory overload 😬 Walked back home and collected Bella along the way, she had her usual 1cm trim all over and took a touch more off her tail this time. Next was Bella’s buddy Buster the Chihuahua, he is very photogenic especially when he caught the rays from the afternoon sunshine ☀️ Last dog was Milo the Shih Tzu, his owner is a plasterer so his Dad plastered one of my kitchen walls while I groomed Milo.

After several years of not making my Christmas 🎄 cards this year I have got some photos printed out already 🤗 When I lived in Runcorn all my customers bar a couple also lived in Runcorn so logistically it was easy to deliver them. My partner would plot a few bike routes and we would cycle 🚴‍♀️ round and post the cards. Now I live in a more rural area my customers are more widespread, however, if I can start now then I will hand out more of them instead.
I will deliver this card to Marla tomorrow but sadly it’s a leaving card as she is moving out of the area on to pastures new 🥲

Even earlier start this morning when Rocky the Labadoodle called in at 8am, he had a short clip to his body but left the length around his head as his owner prefers it that way. Next dog was Amber another Doodle and she has been quite poorly with pancreatitis but is on a special protein diet now so she couldn’t share my sandwich 🥪 Last dog in the afternoon was Chester the Shih Tzu and he had a short but not too short groom as his owner doesn’t want him feeling the cold now the weather is turning.

The morning started off with a visit from adorable Sully who is a Bedlington cross, I clipped his coat short as it seems to help with the skin issues which trouble the Bedlington breed. Next was Buddy, a West Highland Terrier cross and Westies are another breed who also suffer with skin problems. I bathed him in a medicated shampoo and look how he repaid me, pulling his tongue out 🤪 Last dog was Ruby the Cockapoo and it looks like she’s got a flower pot growing out of the top of her head. Off to clean my shed and equipment now as I’m out out tonight to the fantastic Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot to watch The Tempest.

Had a message from Lottie the Labrador’s owners this afternoon to say that after several weeks of illness she was very sadly put to sleep yesterday 💔 She was a beautiful lady and always a pleasure to groom as she was so well behaved and cooperative. I never bothered with the belly strap on her as she would stand so nicely on the table anyway while I was blasting and brushing her. Rex and I had a cheeky nickname for her and called her Hairy Mary as she was the furriest dog I ever groomed and just seemed to shed her coat all year round. She will be sadly missed by her family. Lots of love gorgeous girl 🐶❤️ xx

Didn’t manage to pick a Hospital shift up yesterday so chocolate housemates Mac the Labradoodle and Barney the Labrador called in mid morning. Here’s Mac catching a sunny ☀️ spell between the showers and lovable Barney who had a bath 🛀 and a bit of a brush through. Picked up a couple of cancellations this morning which have moved to the end of the week so it was just Benji the Yorkie today. I groom his housemate Tia but this is the first time I’ve worked on Benji and because it was his first one and he was a bit nervous I got it done in an hour. His groom was a little bit rough and ready but next time he will know what to expect 😊

First dog yesterday was Jazz the Springer Spaniel and she turned up at lunchtime in all the wind 💨 and rain ☔️ She was short all over apart from her ears which I just trimmed around. Last one was Poppy the Shih Tzu who normally gets groomed by her owner, she does a good job as when I see Poppy out and about she always looks neat and smart.
Early this morning was Shih Tzu housemates Lola and Mindy, I groom these exactly the same apart from Mindy who has a shorter length on her head as she has a whorl there, which is a patch of fur that grows in a spiral. Last dog was Hachi the Bichon, she’s had a cyst on her back which is still healing so we decided just to clip her today without the bath.

I groom by size and how long it takes me rather than breed and today they started off medium size then decreased to small and then extra small. First through the door was William a medium sized Golden Retriever and he had a bath 🛀 brush, I tidied his paws 🐾 clipped his nails and trimmed his feathers. Next was Milo the Cockapoo and he was very well behaved today and kept still throughout his groom. Last dog was his housemate Furby the Pomeranian who had a bath and brush and let me trim round his paws 🐾 which is progress as I didn’t dare touch his paws when he first came here 😬

Day off today but Harper the Yorkie called round first thing as her owner wanted her tidying up before her vets appointment in a few days. I went a bit shorter on her coat as when I used my usual blade not much hair came off her.

Yes I know there’s a big chunk of hair in front of his eyes and his paws 🐾 could be tidier but this is the best I could do after 1 1/2 hours of wrestling with gorgeous boy Bruno the Shih Tzu this morning. Next was super handsome Blue the German Shepherd, I scissor ✂️ off the fur on the top of his paws to get rid of his grinch feet but that’s the only sc******ng I do as he has a such a beautiful natural coat. Last dog of the day was Piper the Cockapoo for a regular trim and tidy. I’m selling some Ancol collars and have them displayed in my porch if anyone wants to take a look, thanks 😊

Well the day started off happily enough with adorable Chorkie housemates Charlie and Bella arriving early this morning for their usual short clip down. After lunch it was Marla the Shih Tzu’s turn, however, once her groom was finished and I handed her back to her owner he dropped a bombshell. They are moving out of the area and it was probably the last time I will groom her 🥲 I will really miss this smashing little girl, she has always been a pleasure to groom as she’s got such a nice temperament and is very cooperative. Goodbye lovely Marla and lots of love from me and Rex ❤️ xx
