I love Tortoise. To me they are so prehistoric and like small dinosaurs. They are so robust, although do need proper care, and so many of them come with fascinating stories of being found over 60-80 years ago by children playing outside, or being passed down through families. This beautiful girl has been with two families, each for 40 years, so she is over 80 years old at least. What an honour to care for this wonderful animal.

For some time the RWAF have notified rabbit owners about a new strain of RHVD2. No confirmed cases in the UK as the PCR test cannot determine between old strain and new strain.

However there is a new single vaccine called YURVAC which covers this new strain. The stock and availability is very low, and lots of vets are not yet providing it as they cannot access it and also because of being unsure how necessary it is. Also some speculation from manufacturers that the current vaccine does protect against the new strain.

I am not making YURVAC compulsory (as yet) but urge all rabbit owners to register their interest at their vets, and take the vaccine if you manage to get it.

In the meantime, please keep up with the usual triple vaccine of Myxo, RHVD & RHVD2.

July & August fully booked apart from these gaps.
I can't squeeze in any more bookings but I can run a waiting list.
Equally if anyone is booked in, and their plans change, please let me know asap so I can try to accommodate another family. Last minute cancellations are detrimental as at short notice I can't refill the spaces as clients make alternative arrangements when it is very close to departure.
Many thanks x

🦁♌ Lionhead rabbits are renowned for being friendly, sociable, enjoy human company and of course for their funky hair do's! They are typically medium sized, around 2-2.5kg, usually with up-ears, and their face is more pointed than a lop but not as pointy as their wild relative, meaning they don't get as many teeth problems and less ear issues as the ear canal structure is more normal. For these reasons, they make a great choice when choosing a pet long term and considering their ongoing needs.
Some has double coats, more like a Teddy/ plush breed, and they will need attention to maintain their coat. They are often mixed with other breeds making them very unique.
If you're looking to adopt, or find a friend for your bunny, many of these beautiful creatures, along with other breeds, are waiting in rescues for a home with you. Always happy to recommend places to start looking that I know provide guidance and support.

Well this is one way to start the Easter holiday bunny boom. These little dreamboats, Dumpling & Cinnamon are around 12 weeks, on their first of many holidays and we love them already. How can you not! Had too many cuddles today. Who called this work 🤫

Now for the sensible bit. I do love baby bunnies. They melt any heart, but for anyone looking in on this post and thinking to get bunnies as an Easter gift or spur of the moment...don't! They are a 10 year commitment, need a lot of care and upkeep and need stable, long term, loving homes.
These owners have been exceptionally organised with their research on welfare, and checked for a place they wanted to board their rabbits, before even adopting them, ensuring all provisions are in place. They are in a 5* home, and now 5* bunny hotel!
Ps I am starting to morph back into a scruff pot with all the mucking out and working with the animals!

Reception Area is officially OPEN 💐🏡

I am so excited to show you the Reception Area, which has turned out even better than I hoped for! It's warm, bright, colourful, welcoming, convenient and peaceful.
The perfect dedicated space to greet clients and pets for check-in and checkouts.
I can keep pets safe & dry in their carriers for a short while before collection (rather than in my hallway), have somewhere for people to handover out of the rain and a place I can turn into a 'bunny emporium'!

The main pet hotel now truly remains peaceful without a busy foot flow, better security & privacy for our home, and an even more professional environment.
Tours are still available for new clients.

This is the Easter/ Spring look! Watch out for seasonal changes and what fun I shall have at Christmas with decorating!

Big thank you to Anthony, Terry & Jack for the excellent workmanship. X

Happy Mother's Day 💐 hope you all have cuddles with your furry monkeys today. Here are just some of the little furry monsters who get squished and kissed when I'm their temporary Bun-Mum (or Aunty!) at Bunny Haven Hotel. Yes I will cuddle and love these guys like my own...if they allow. X

✈️Frequent Flyers✈️ Fawn and Lillibet are regular guests and often see their pals who they have met before on their return holidays. They also are so comfortable here, they will lick/groom Adam (Mr Bunny Haven). Somehow I don't get the same treatment 🤔💓
They love their soft fleecey blanket and cleaning each other's eyes. Rabbits groom for hours per day, are very clean and odourless and should never need to be washed or bathed (unless they get a poopy butt).

"You're mine!" Gorgeous Zorro is a very gentle boy aged 5 and has been staying with us for many years. He is demonstrating here 'chinning' which is marking all of 'his items' with his scent glad under his chin.
Zorro is not castrated so his drive to exhibit some hormonal behaviours can be stronger than his neutered friends at Bunny Haven Hotel, he will feel the urge to mark almost anything including the bars of the metal run! We keep him in the same run for his daily exercise so he knows it's his space and to limit the changes in smells in that area.
We go with what ever the rabbits need, and over time with repeated pet holidays, we know intuitively what the individual animals need to feel comfortable and at home.
Even neutered rabbits will do 'chinning' especially to their owners of new items at home, perhaps now you will notice this behaviour with your bunnies at home and know what it means!

Beautiful 25 year old PJ, the African Grey Parrot. She says "Goodnight" when ready for bed, "Good a
Afternoon" when she hears a phone ring, knows her numbers to ten, makes a water noise when she has her spray shower and says "Do you want some?" when I chop veg. She can also nudge your face and give kisses sounds.
I have become more confident handling her thanks to wearing gloves as she has a very sharp beak and claws but she is quite a gentle girl and I have loved having her to stay. We don't have an aviary so she isn't able to come out to fly, as such, but as directed by her life long owner, she is quite contented with my company, the comings and going of the pet hotel and one on one handling if I am able to.

We have some wonderful reviews and are thankful to our clients who share their heartfelt appreciation of the care we give at Bunny Haven Hotel.
We have the pleasure of looking after the same pets year on year, which is great for consistency, reassurance and most importantly on knowing the pets.
