The Doggy Centre - Honoured Pets Based in Waterlooville. We provide Dog Day Care, Dog Walks, Pet Sitting & Small Animal Care. Havant Council licence No.22292

We started in 2013, initially dog walking and pet sitting. In 2017 we moved into our new Daycare building with 3 training rooms and an outside space. We offer:

Some enrichment wall in the morning to get those brains working and then we had the pools out, wet towels on the floor to keep cool, and the dogs where able to do what they wanted 🐶

🐾☀️ Heatwave Update ☀️🐾

With higher temperatures forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. Your dogs’ safety and wellbeing remain our top priority.

If you do need our services this week, we kindly ask that you collect your dog earlier where possible, or get family/ friends to help pick up earlier, particularly if they are more vulnerable to the heat, including:

• Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds
• Older dogs
• High-energy dogs

Thank you for your understanding.

We will ensure they have access to plenty of water, shade and activities will be limited. All areas will be cooled with fans.

Heatstroke occurs when your pet cannot lose excess heat, causing the inside of their body to reach dangerous temperatures.

Environmental temperatures are predicted to rise above 30 degrees this week, these temperatures mean heatstoke is a risk for ALL dog breeds.

While cats are generally more tolerant of the heat, they can also suffer heatstroke. Especially susceptible are very old or young cats, cats which are obese or have flat faces, or long hair cats such as Persians.

COMMON HEATSTROKE SIGNS IN DOGS AND CATS:

⚠️ Rapid breathing or panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Abnormal behaviour or confusion
⚠️ Lethargy or collapse
⚠️ Vomiting and diarrhoea
⚠️ Dark red gums or tongue

Prevention is best. We advise:
Exercise your dogs for shorter periods and during the cooler early mornings and late evenings.
Do not excercise your dog at all if the temperature is dangerously high.
Never leave your pet unattended in a car even in the shade.
Provide a cool, well ventilated, shaded area in your home for pets to go to if the heat gets too much for them.
Ensure they have access to cool drinking water.
