Loxley dog walker I have lived in Loxley for over 30 years and have been walking other peoples' dogs in the area for approx 6 years.

The job is ideal for me as I love walking, I love dogs &, as long as I’m dressed appropriately, happy to be out in all weather

There has been a big change in weather over the last week or two with fog, frost and general poor conditions. It is only when driving in these conditions it becomes obvious the serious defects in modern cars with auto light systems.
The automatic headlights in vehicles detects brightness outside the vehicle with an Illuminance sensor which activates when light picked up by the sensor drops below a certain level.

This does not activate because of inclement weather such as snow ,rain or fog, so please use your headlights manually for safety while driving in these weather condition.

In addition daytime running lights (DRL) on most new vehicles may activate white lights to the front but leave the taillights off which leads to many driving at night or in inclement weather feeling headlights are on without any rear lighting being present.

If in doubt turn your headlights on!

❌ RAPESEED! ❌

It’s that time of year again where farmers fields have blossomed into pretty yellow flowers, these plants are called rapeseed. Although it may be tempting to place your dog in the midst to take a scenic photo, please avoid this at all costs!

Rapeseed is extremely poisonous for dogs, especially in highly sensitive canines.

Rapeseed is listed by Dogs Trust as toxic to our dogs if ingested and can cause symptoms such as:

❌Haemolytic Anaemia
❌ Blindness
❌ Damaged Nervous System
❌ Digestive Disorders
❌ Breathing Problems

Even walking through these fields should be avoided! In June 2019, a dog was reported to be suffering from severe open wounds after running through a crop of rapeseed.

Please seek immediate veterinary attention if your dog shows any signs of rapeseed poisoning!
