I absoutely loved helping Holly declutter and organise her loft. Here's what she said about the experience!

"Every year we say "we must clear the loft' and every year we avoid it!

This year, with the help of Katie over two weekends, we cleared it all out, decluttered, organised (I had a company board the loft) and then she came back and helped us put what was left back up and organised/labelled.

She does this with a gentle guidance and support (never judgement) and the magic sauce... she actually takes away the recycling, charity donations etc so they are not cluttering the house (about 4 car loads!).

Katie is slowly but surely helping us declutter the whole house (Garage, Utility and Kitchen first, then the loft).. who knows where is next! HIGHLY Recommend - in fact I recommend her to everyone and I paid extra. She is worth her weight in gold."

We're heading into Autumn, which is a perfect time to sort your loft (not too hot! 🥵) so if it's been on your to-do list then lets get it done! DM me now!

Do you know I can help you pack up your house if you're moving this year?

I can even help you declutter as you go so you don't end up taking (and paying for) items you don't want/need to take with you.

So, if you're looking to move soon, whether it's a downsizing, you've grown out of your old house, or just a relocation, drop me a message and let's see how I might be able to help make your move as smooth as possible.

The 9th August is National Book Lovers Day...and I think 90% of my clients are Book Lovers so they will be relishing today I hope!

Books can be one of the things my clients find difficult to edit as there are so many reasons to keep them!

📚There's the ones you loved in your childhood and want to pass down to your children or grandchildren.

📚There's the ones you want to read again as you loved it so much

📚There's the ones you haven't read yet (this is usually the biggest pile!)

📚There's the ones you borrowed from someone and need to give back to.

📚There's the ones you want to lend to someone so they can enjoy it too.

If you have the space to house all these categories comfortably then by all means, keep them tidy on a bookshelf somewhere, but, if they are bursting off every bookshelf, sideboard and bedside table you own, then maybe it's time to pair them back a bit!

(And I promise you, you'll never get round to reading the half read ones! If you liked it, you would have finished it!)

Let me know how many unread books you have on your bookshelf or bedside table in the comments!

"...the magic sauce... she actually takes away the recycling, charity donations etc so they are not cluttering the house (about 4 car loads!)"

"...The best thing for me is that she takes everything away with her, which is the part I always struggle with. So there is no need for me to have to decide whether to take items to charity shops, to the tip, to sell them online etc - Katie does all the hard work!"

"...Practically having everything GONE at the end of the day has been integral to making this work so well. Knowing the ‘stuff’ is gone and that Katie will sort to tip, recycle or charity shop. We chose the charity shops we like to give to and lovely to know Katie delivered our stuff there!"

Can you guess what people's favourite part of working with me is? 🤔

Transformation Tuesday!

We all know I love a utility transformation because it's such a useful space in the house, and if you're lucky enough to have one make it work for you rather than using it as the Monica's cupboard of rooms in your home!

Do you have a utility? What does it look like right now?

Hi there, it's been a while!

I'm Katie and I own and run Room to Breathe Decluttering. Thanks for the follow if you're new here.

My approach to decluttering and organising has always been centred around compassion and pragmatism. I understand how clutter can make you feel, because I have lived experience of the same thing you're struggling with. So there's no judgement here I promise!

I offer personalised, empathetic decluttering and pair it with a nice but no-nonsense approach. This helps us sort what stays, what goes, and how to store it effectively.

The process is made to be simple, as I know you're often already overwhelmed by the clutter and are anxious about how to tackle it.

So together we remove unnecessary clutter (I take it all away at the end of our session!), organise the remaining items in a way that works for you and your family, and we build sustainable habits so you can maintain your space long after I’m gone. It’s not an ideal business model, but if my clients keep organised and on top of their clutter once we’ve finished working together then I’m happy!

If any of this sounds familiar and you'd like to have chat then drop me a message either in the comments or privately and lets book in a FREE initial consultation.

Ooo look at me with my awards nomination! 🏆

And do you know what I don't even mind saying that I nominated myself!

After five years in business and lots and lots of ups and downs, I finally feel like I'm 'good enough' to nominate myself for an award and after attending the Women Who Awards in May I knew that their separate awards for Solopreneurs would be just the one for me.

Sitting down and taking the time to think and write about just how far Room to Breathe Decluttering has come and in turn, how far I have come with it was a pretty humbling.

💰How many times we've had to have serious conversations about whether I could carry on without a PAYE job.

⏸️How many times I've had to pause or restart it because of COVID, house moves and babies.

🗓️But most amazingly of all, how I'm now booked months in advance with my clients regularly recommending me to friends and family which is just the best recommendations ever.

I'll save the thank you speeches for if/when I win but you know who you all are! 💕

It's Plastic Free July!

The month when people pledge to use less plastic, especially single use plastic. I will be giving it a good go this year and I've also given myself...and you a challenge.

Use up what you have! A great way to not buy more plastic is to take the time to see what you already have and use it up! The worst culprits for having multiples of things in plastic packaging are toiletries, make up and cleaning products so dig around your drawers and cupboards and see how many of these out have.

For make up and toiletries check the PAO (period after opening) which gives the timeframe the product stays fresh for after breaking the seal. For toiletries check how many shower gels you have lurking...if you don't like the scent or brand then if unopened they can be gifted to someone who does or to a food bank.

For cleaning products use up what you have and then start to think about more eco friendly, natural products you might be able to use which comes in recyclable or reusable packaging.

So there we have it, my challenge this month. Who's in?

I have had such an amazing day at the awards

I was invited to come with my amazing tribe but I didn't know what to expect so was a bit apprehensive. I definitely shouldn't have been though as the energy in the rooms was just electric. Over 200 women in business supporting one another, finding out about one another and learning from one another.

I must admit I hadn't seen the itinerary before I arrived but to hear so many amazing speakers and to be so inspired by everyone has been such a joy. I've followed and on socials for a long time so to hear them speak was a treat.

My head is buzzing and after instruction by the bloody lovely I may just have a crack at entering myself next year! 😬

Thank you , what an eventful! 💕💕

Do you have a War on Waste Facebook group in your area?

For those of you in my neck of the woods (Warwick and Leamington) here's ours. I'm surprised how quiet it is so for the eco-conscious or even if you just love a freebie or are watching your pennies come over and join!

(I'm not admin just think it needs a bit of a shout out!)

Tuesday Tip

If you have piles of paperwork waiting to be shredded and you only have a small 'personal' shredder then it's time to accept that you will most likely throw the shredder out the window with frustration before you get anywhere near getting rid of all your confidential waste.

Instead, I always recommend Shredding Bags. You can pick them up at many storage companies ( is where I go for mine in Warwickshire) or you can get some sent to you through the post.

You can fill them to the brim (just make sure you can lift them) seal them up and then either drop them back to your shredding facility or set up a collection date with the company you used.

Most bags are around £10 each and you can get a mighty 16kg of confidential waste in them which is a huge amount.

So what will you choose...10 hours of feeding paperwork through a tiny shredder, stopping every 15 mins to unjam the bloody thing...or chucking it all in a sealed bag and getting someone else to do the hard work!

Our story...

  • those who have gone through a big life event eg. divorce, setting up a new business, moving in with a partner etc
