It was our pleasure to welcome Rosie into our grooming family 🤗

If you know anything about us at Hounds Heads Tails & Whiskers you’ll know we adore spaniels, having 2 of our own Lyric the cocker spaniel & Ottis the Clumber Spaniel.

Having met Rosie and her family at the recent meet ups organised by Walking with Clumbers, we were delighted to discover they live local to us!

Clumber Spaniels are on the vulnerable breeds list in the UK and as such are not a common sight, this was a lovely opportunity to have another Clumber in our salon!

Now that Rosie has retired from showing it was decided that we could trim down a few areas to allow for easier maintenance, whilst still keeping a more traditional look.

🫣Deshed Grooming🤩

With shorter haired breeds such as Labradors, it’s easy to see the dead hair covering your home as it falls from your dog…. But what about your double coated breeds ?

WITHOUT GROOMING

📍hair can become compacted and matted,
📍your pet can become very uncomfortable,
📍moisture can become trapped leading to potential skin problems,
📍your pet will not be able to regulate its body temperature so CAN OVERHEAT 🥵
📍your pet may become depressed or withdrawn as it becomes PAINFUL to be touched.

So what can we do to help ?

A deep cleaning bath with professional deshed shampoo can aid in loosening the dead hair followed by a deep cleaning conditioner.

Add to your groom “shed it baby” mud spa (fees apply) for the ultimate deshed groom.

Dirt and dander will be removed away from the skin allowing the driers to reach down to the skin to remove moisture and thoroughly dry the coat.

Using professional tools will allow the deshed brush out to reach through the thickness of the coat, removing the dead hair and preventing it from becoming compacted and matted underneath the top outer layer.

This can be a MAMMOTH TASK, that can take hours to complete, and let’s not even talk about the clean up afterwards 🙈

⭐️Rethinking Dog Grooming⭐️Brave Package⭐️

Meet Arlo a 2yr old Golden Retriever who had recently enrolled on our Brave Package to help him slowly overcome his fears and anxieties around being in the salon.

Arlos biggest challenge has always been surrounding the bath.
Initially he was extremely anxious and wouldn’t go near the bath.

As you can see in the video he is still not 100% comfortable but he has made so much progress in just 4 sessions 🙌
