Say hello to 2year old Luffy!
Poor Luffy had an incident with a car, although still bright and alert, he had ascertained an injury to his right forelimb.
Investigation of the lameness revealed a fracture of his radius (the forearm - between the elbow and the wrist)
He was referred to Anderson Abercromby Referrals and seen by veterinary surgeon Dr. Federico Piccinno who stabilised the fracture using a 2.4mm locking compression plate. Dr. Federico also used a cortical screw to address a fissure (crack in the bone) in the distal radial fragment.
A temporary modified Robert-Jones dressing was applied to help with any postoperative swelling.
Luffy had a comfortable recovery, he stayed overnight and was taken care of by our night team before going home the following day.
We will see Luffy back in six weeks for a re-examination and some radiographs to assess how the bone is healing.
Rest up sweet Luffy and we will see you again at your follow up appointment 🥰
