Brian Charles Oakley, 20th March 1933 - 30th July 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brian Charles Oakley, aged 92.
Brian passed away peacefully at his Hertfordshire home surrounded by family. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, partner and founder of Oakley’s, he had a full and wonderful life. We are all immensely proud of his lifelong dedication to the coachbuilding industry.
At just 14 years old, Brian, with his father built and sold his first horsebox and continued to dedicate 78 years to building his business into a market leader. Brian was fundamental in pioneering developments to create the modern day luxury horseboxes and recreational vehicles for which Oakley’s are known worldwide.
In a true testament to his genuine and generous character, and always the joker, Brian was highly respected by all those that worked alongside him, which is reflected in the long service of many employees. Brian was popular with customers and suppliers alike, many of whom became dear friends and loyal customers over the years. Outside of work his racehorses were his pride and joy to follow. We are grateful for his wide reaching impact, not just within our organisation, but on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
And in a phrase he might well have used himself,
“Rest easy Chap.”
Please be assured Oakley Coachbuilders will continue to operate as normal and continue his wonderful legacy.
