Spring is here… and we’re continuing our dog safety series.

Last week: Spring plants 🌺This week: Lungworm 🐌

As the weather gets wetter, slugs and snails become more active - and they can carry lungworm, a serious parasite dogs can pick up from puddles, grass, or even outdoor toys.

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Coughing🐾 Breathing problems🐾 Low energy🐾 Cuts that take longer to stop bleeding
🐾 Changes in behaviour

If something doesn’t seem right, it’s always best to check with your vet.

Stay tuned for next week’s spring danger!

Feel free to share this post to spread awareness 🙌🏻

Creed has been in the kennels since 1st July 2025 and has never had a single enquiry. That’s 222 days with no-one even asking about him.

Five year old Creed is a big, bouncy, playful boy with a wonderful temperament- loves dogs, children, playing with toys and just loves a fuss. Sounds perfect?

We have no idea why this amazing, lovable, stunning looking boy has had no interest at all and he so deserves his own sofa and loving family. Our volunteers love him so much, we know you will too.

Can we get this shared far and wide in time to get him some admirers by Valentines Day?

Met Dax a week ago, a pocket bully with a big heart and even bigger feelings.

Dax isn’t naughty or stubborn. He’s been quietly stewing in stress and frustration, and over time he’s made choices that made sense to him in the moment… but unfortunately those choices have been making life harder, not easier.

The good news? Mum and dad now understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and how to move forward. With clear guidance, support and structure, Dax can learn new ways to cope and make better decisions.

He’s a sensitive soul in a solid body, and once that balance starts to shift, things can change quicker than people expect.

This is the part of training that isn’t flashy, but it’s the part that works.

Border Terrier

Small but mighty. Border Terriers were bred for long days on rugged ground, working independently, thinking on their feet, squeezing into tight spaces, and flushing out foxes. That heritage still shows today, they’re busy, determined, clever little thinkers wrapped in a scruffy cute package.

Behaviour traits
They’re affectionate and devoted to their people but can be fiery, tenacious, and hilariously opinionated. Their terrier instincts mean digging, chasing, and investigating are non-negotiable needs. They do best with clear boundaries, consistent training, and a good sense of humour from their humans.

Enrichment ideas
• Digging boxes or designated digging spots
• Hide-and-find scent games using small items
• Terrier tunnels or DIY cardboard “dens”
• Natural chews to satisfy their need to gnaw

Enrichment helps with their independent streak, but it won’t replace the walk. Terriers need proper outlets, without them, they’ll create their own adventures… usually involving mud, holes, or chasing something they shouldn’t.
