If you have been following our retraining videos this one is quite interesting about Narco!
If you haven't watched his first videos it might be worth seeing a bit of them to understand why we continue riding him in this one.
This is a horse that baffled vets and he was written off by most people but his fabulous owner trusted us to work with him and her πŸ‡

If you are struggling with issues with your former Racehorse, please do get in touch!
We help a lot of horses that no one else can understand.

We have spaces available from the end of this month for retraining and don't forget our demo / training day with RoR Midlands on the 12th October

Finally got around to some videos of the Summer holidays and when we went to Blakesley Show.
Savello won his veteran class and we had a busy day with Marshall & his ponies πŸ₯°
This is one of Marshall's videos but thought you guys would enjoy it!

I try not to share really personal things on this page but this is very close to my heart and if you support it, please let's keep supporting it and give ourselves the same rights as our beloved animals!

I completely support this and have just sent another email!
We give our animals a dignified death and if we didn't and we left them to suffer and waste away until they died, then we would be reported and prosecuted but we are expected to stand by and watch family members and our most loved ones suffer because they have no choice but to have palliative care and wait to die!
Everyone has their own opinions on this and I respect that but I believe that it should be our own choice as to whether we die with dignity when we are ready or if we wait it out until we waste away and the body finally gives up on it's own!
End of life care and support is so important, but I believe that when it gets too much we should be allowed to decide that it is time and not have to be left to waste away in pain until our bodies give up on their own.
Anyone that believes palliative care means you die with no pain and you have dignity, has never seen someone suffer at the end of their life.
Why can't we have the same rights as our animals?!
Why do we have to suffer?!
Why can't we make our own decisions as to how and when we leave this life?!

My life, my choices!

It takes 2 minutes

Another lovely retrainer headed home at the weekend!
The lovely Bertie spent 8 weeks with us and he has been an absolute pleasure to start retraining πŸ‡
A very good racehorse who only recently retired, but what a gentleman.
He is perfect for his new owners and after only their first time riding him, they took part in one of our demos for our National Racehorse Week open day!
Bertie is a sensitive soul and tries so hard to please. He has struggled with his weight since leaving Racing but we look forward to seeing him bloom into himself as he settles back in at home and has the winter to take things slowly with his owners as he continues that transition from Racehorse to riding horse!

As always the help doesn't end when they leave us after some retraining, we will continue to support them all for as long as they need us!
The wine and chocolates were a lovely thank you πŸ₯°

If you are thinking about getting some help with your Racehorse, do get in touch about our retraining livery and don't forget we have our demo day on the 12th October when you can learn all about how we start the Racehorses who come to us for retraining and learn to understand what your Racehorse is trying to tell you!

Love these cakes from Narco and his owner πŸ‡
Narco came to us with quite a few issues and worries that many other professionals couldn't explain and we were his last hope ❀️
He is now back home and doing really well and his owner popped in today to bring us these gorgeous cakes and card and yes the cakes do taste as good as they look!
We love doing what we do and helping horses and their owners. Seeing them thriving when they go home is all that we want but these were a really nice thank you for all our hard work πŸ₯°

We have spaces available for retraining liveries so do get in touch if you are struggling and need some help. Don't just right them off, we have helped many horses that no one else has been able to!

This lovely little boy is Overly who was rehomed a couple of years ago but due to owners circumstances changing he is back with us to find that next new person in his life!
Top photo when we started his retraining in the begining of 2023 and the bottom yesterday πŸ‡
He is the sweetest little horse who rides like a pony, so he will suit some teenagers coming over ponies looking to move onto their first horse.
The kids still must be able to ride though, so please if you are going to contact us, coming off a kick along cob and they have just started cantering won't work! A plucky young rider who wants to go out and have fun will be the ideal match for him or a small adult.
He has been out competing and at arena hires, is great to hack and is easy to handle on the ground.
He does windsuck a little sometimes after a feed but it is manageable.
He has only just arrived back with us but will be available to view from next week!

Please share πŸ™

Our Story

Amanda & Matthew Mills set up Mills Stables in 2009 & have grown their Racehorse Retraining yard to be one of the most successful yards for ex Racehorses and Retraining.

We spent 9 years in Oxfordshire but have now relocated to Worcestershire where we have an absolutely fantastic new yard completely dedicated to the Thoroughbred!!!

Our passion is Retraining Racehorses. We provide Retraining & Rehoming services for Racehorses coming straight off the track as well as Retraining for owners who have bought an ex Racehorse and are struggling to retrain and understand them. All of the horses we rehome are retrained before they leave us so we can make sure that they are matched to the right homes! We keep in touch with all the horses we rehome and are always on hand for advice and help if needed.

With over 80 acres of grazing we also have plenty of spaces for Racehorses coming to us for holidays during their Training and Retirement livery when it is time for the end of their ridden careers.
