Happy faces all round today!
Savello loves his outings to show off to everyone and today he went off to Kenilworth show and took 3rd place in Best Condition and 2nd place in the Veteran.
Thankfully the weather was kind to us, it was dry for his first class and then we had awful rain which passed just as he came back off the horsebox for his veteran class.
Thanks to SPILLERS for keeping him looking and feeling amazing πŸ‡

What do people want when they are looking for a horse?
This could get interesting!
I am honestly keen to know what you are looking for when you look at photos and videos online to the actual vieiwng day.
I am hoping this could help us all, especially the horses 🀞
I always ask people what they were looking for and what they want to do with a horse because that helps me get a better idea of which horses may suit them.
Recently I sent someone details of a couple of horses but they weren't what the person was looking for, which is fine we all have a type. What was interesting for me was the comment that came back, they want safe but quality!
It got me thinking, at the stage that a lot of my horses are at, they are often at that 'ugly ducking stage', as their bodies are still transforming from a Racehorse to becoming a riding horse. They are mentally happy, relaxed and in the best possible place to now be brought on by their new owners. They understand about their new lives and can cope with the changes that lie ahead of them and that makes them as safe as I can possibly get a horse to be.
But are they quality? To me yes, quality isn't always about looks, it is about what that horse can give you and the best qualities a horse can give you is their trust, trainability, intelligence and adaptability.
The most important thing to me is that we don't over horse people and that can often be the hardest part of what I do because often people still want more!
We can get more with time and training but the process of retraining a Racehorse is a long commitment and shouldn't be rushed, we can produce more quality in what they look like and how they move as they grow into stronger bodies and their minds understand what we are asking of them.
I have ridden a lot of horses that people would say have a lot of quality, meaning what they look like, how they move and perform and those that often have that natural quality of presence in the early stages are the ones that are more highly strung and anxious and if you want safe and reliable, it isn't always them! They are the ones that keep you on your toes, you have to think ahead and accept that these horses have that edge that possibly made them that better racehorse and will make a better competition horse in their next career.
Most of the people who come to me want the safe option for low level riding clubs, hacking and fun, these horses can be as flashy as we want them to be when we produce them more but it is far better if we start at the bottom and work our way up together as a partnership and learn to ride the quality we produce!
Photo of Possol, one the horses we retrained that definitely had a lot of quality about him in all ways both on and off the track but what a horse to retrain! He is up there in my top two of my trickiest horses that I have ever retrained and I am so thankful to his racing owners for giving us both the opportunities we had, he taught me so much and I loved teaching him about how to adjust to a life outside of racing β€οΈπŸ‡
In this photo I was very heavily pregnant with Marshall and had extenders on my jacket so I could fit my belly in it! πŸ˜‚
Quality is great if we can truly ride and understand that quality πŸ‡

Are you looking for a15.2hh to have some fun with?!
We have two lovely little horses still looking to find their people πŸ‡

Both great to hack alone and in company
Both school really well and could do a nice dressage test or a bit of showing
Both enjoy their jumping
Both really nice allrounders
Both would suit a small adult or confident teen moving up onto horses
Both would suit Mother / Daughter / Son share

Frankie 15.2hh, bay, 11 year old gelding
Jazz 15.2hh, chestnut, 12 year old mare

Please get in touch if you are genuinely wanting to find the right horse, we have loads of horses waiting to come in and these guys and others are ready to go .

So I was having a really positive week, half term has been chaos and very hot but we have juggled family time and kept the horses working.
Good news is that Zous headed off to his new home today, he found himself a lovely lady who met him, loved him, he loved her, we were happy and she has taken him home πŸ₯° Already had an update and he is out in his field settled and happy in his new home. The ones on training livery are going really well and the ones for rehoming were ready to potentially find their new people!
That is where it all then went wrong πŸ˜”
On Friday night I messaged to check that the people coming on Saturday morning were all good to come still and they said no. The good news is that at least they didn't just ignore me and said no but how am I supposed to find genuine people to then view over the weekend late on a Friday evening πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
What I will say is, if anyone can't find my number, I am all over the internet, I don't hide my number! I am easily found so that isn't a good enough excuse to not have contacted me earlier and then ignore my message about rearranging.
I am so fed up at the moment with wasting my time on people who have no intention of having horses from us. The other week I stopped a viewing because we seemed to be wanting to try the whole yard, even when the first two were completely suitable and the others wouldn't be, no surprise that I never heard back from them!
I am not here for people to joyride our horses, I am here for them to find the right person and home and for you to find the right horse. If there is one thing I can do, that is know when that horse could be right for you and you them.
I don't bu****it! If you aren't right, you aren't having them, it doesn't matter how much money you have or how great you think you are, my horses pick who they want and need!
The only issues I have ever had when rehoming is when people lie, they change what they want to do with the horse after they have the horses, or they don't tell the truth about the type of home life they can offer.
I know exactly what my horses need and want, I listen to them and allow them to let me know if they like someone or not. In the period of time they stay with us, I learn about each horse individually and from the type of stable to the job they want to do, I know what that is. When people change what they want it doesn't then just work because you have bought a horse. You have bought that horse because I have matched the horse to what you have told me you want to do. It isn't suddenly going to be capable of working happily in a school with you if you asked for just a happy hacker, the horse isn't just going to start jumping a metre track or going hunting if you wanted one to go to dressage and show!
The last thing I will say on this, is that I try my hardest to find everyone of our horses the absolute best homes and to those of you that the horses suited but you wanted more, it is your loss and the horses gain and to those that in the past lied to me, I am now even more cautious and determined to make sure that I get it absolutely right for every horse that I rehome!
I love my job, I love the horses but I also have a life.
Don't waste my time, I work long hours, this job never stops and I have a family I want to spend time with as well.
And if I haven't got back to you, do message me again if you are genuine. If the time wasters stopped wasting my time I wouldn't be so stressed and miss the ones who actually might turn up to view and want to find the right horse!

Right this time I'm after some advice from you guys and hoof boots or any other options for a horse who seems to be able to get everthing off his feet!
We have had a few horses owned by liveries that have used boots but I have never been convinced that most of them are any good so I want comfortable, hard wearing and something that the horse can not possibly get out of!
Please help πŸ™

We have a lovely selection of horses still looking for their new homes πŸ‡
Please do get in touch if you are looking for something that has started their retraining, has had plenty of time to mentally and physically develop to now start their journey with their new person.
All our horses are very different rides and have fabulous temperaments, are working well in the school at various stages, hack out alone and in company and are well mannered in all ways!
We don't do quick turn arounds and our horses only go to the right person for them.
We can only do week day viewings this week
Loads of videos of our horses on our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/millsstables

Call or message on WhatsApp for more info and to arrange a viewing 07815 740052

Please don't waste my time if you have no intention of viewing or aren't actually looking for a horse right now as we are getting endless people wasting my time at the moment.
We have some really lovely horses and not many people coming to view πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Tomorrow is our RoR 'Introduction to Owning a Former Racehorse' day πŸ‡
We still have some spaces available if anyone else would like to join us.
This day isn't about telling you that having a former Racehorse is easy!
It is about truths and how much hard work retraining a Racehorse can be, it is about helping people understand why they react to things the way they do, why they struggle with things that other horses don't, the issues of kissing spine and ulces!
We want to help people help their horses and this is what this morning is all about for us.
We are honest and we will tell it as it is and if you are struggling with a former Racehorse and want some advice this is a fantastic opportunity to come and learn from people who actually do this for a living, have worked in racing and have now been retraining and rehoming Racehorses for the past 17 years!

Photos of my amazing Baikaline who taught me so much and gave me my love for mares πŸ₯°

Loads of horses still looking and waiting for viewings!
If you are considering an ex Racehorse, what you get from us is a horse who has had the time to be let down after racing, allowed to develop slowly and at their own pace both mentally and physically, so they aren't necessarily the best schooled horses but they are trainable and well adjusted horses from Racing. They are ready to now move on and continue their education and grow with their new people.
We can only give them the best start and then help and guide their new owners along the way with them!
Please get in touch if you are genuinely looking, I must have replied to over 100 messages the other day and I really don't have time to send endless videos and back and forth messages for nothing.
If I missed replying to anyone, do message again as I couldn't keep up.
Please don't be offended if I ask for videos of you riding as this helps me decide if it is worth you viewing the one you are interested in and sometime's I may suggest you try another rather than the one you enquire about. I don't want to waste anyone's time, especially mine!
These guys really need their new homes, where are you all? πŸ˜”
All we ask for them is that you are enough of a confident rider who can help continue their education, sensible with common sense and will love them as much as we do!
They will be happy doing most things in life as long as it is with the right person, they are treated well and loved!

Call or message on WhatsApp 07815740052
and if I don't get back to you straight away it's because I am busy but I will, just please don't ignore me then when I do.
And please if you want info, tell me what!!!
I will always say how much first so we don't waste each others time on that.
Don't forget our RoR demo day, 'An Introduction to Owning a Racehorse' is on Sunday and we still have tickets available. πŸ‡
