The British Chihuahua Club Membership of The British Chihuahua Club is open to all, subject to approval of the Committee. We are a club for anyone who owns or loves Chihuahuas.

The aims of the Club, as laid down in our rules, are: to promote interest in, and to encourage the breeding and exhibiting of, Chihuahuas; to maintain a high standard in the breed by following the description as laid down in the official standard adopted by the Kennel Club; and to assist members to co-operate in the best interests of the breed. The Club is not just there for breeders and exhibitor

s at dog shows, although this is a large part of our work as we hold an Open Show and a Breed Championship Show ourselves every year, for which reason we operate under the auspices of The Kennel Club. Our Club also supports the British Chihuahua Club Rescue Association (BCCRA) which works to rescue and rehome unwanted or abandoned Chihuahuas, or those whose owners may no longer be able to care for them. All members must agree to abide by the rules of the Club, and also our Code of Ethics which govern how we should look after the animals in our care.

Another Chihuahua Chronicle is in the pipeline, most of this year's results are recorded. All it needs now is some lovely breeders and exhibitors to put in an ad featuring their gorgeous dogs, winning or otherwise, but especially those lucky enough to have made up a new Champion this year 🙂 Get your ad in before the 1st of December for £60 a page, but it goes up to £65 in December and if I squeeze in any last minute ones in January they will be £70 a page so please do it now!! (Once your ad is in, you can always tinker with it up to the last minute.)

The Chronicle has been in continous annual editions since 1991. Is this the last one? Get enough ads in and I'll do it again! Oh and if you still haven't bought the 2025 book I still have a few available and will have some at the show on Sunday!

Thank you for this prompt and excellent critique from our Longcoat judge Isobel Taylor at our recent Open Show on 4th May:

Chihuahua (Long Coat)
Best of Breed: Dorenty Textututango
Reserve Best of Breed: Mocha Vanilla Baralicia JW
Best Puppy in Breed: Kirdanchi All That Jaz
Reserve Best Puppy in Breed: Lollymoos True Delight
Best Veteran in Breed: Ridgehawk Freds Legacy
Reserve Best Veteran in Breed: Reynoldco Sweet Dreams JW
Best Baby Puppy in Breed: Frapachi Harley Raye at Hollichi TAF

I would first like to give thanks to the club for their invitation to judge and hospitality throughout. Their hard work was evident in the success of the show. Alongside this I must thank my stewards, Elisha & Linda, for keeping the ring running smoothly.

I had an entry of 56 dogs with 58 entries, my heartfelt thanks to those who entered under me and took my decisions graciously. I was pleased with quality across the board, particularly in bi***es. I did have slight concerns over mouths, with many underbites found from beyond puppy classes - something to be mindful of going forward. On a positive note I was pleased to see so many veterans out today, many could teach the youngsters a thing or two!

Baby Puppy Dog (0/0)
No entries.
Minor Puppy Dog (3,0)
1. Holland-Smith’s Kirdanchi All That Jaz
7 m/o fawn sable dog maturing well. Breed typical head with saucy expression. Well developed forequarters with shoulders well laid, ribs well sprung with deep brisket. Sufficient turn of stifle with hocks well let down, tail set high and of sickle shape. Moved okay. BPD & BPIB
2. Culverhouse’s Kechua Buccanneer by Lykath
6 m/o raw cream dog. Appealing expression. Developing well in front. Ample length of neck with level backline, a touch long. Tail of sickle shape. Correct turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Finished in soft furnishings. A youngster enjoying his day out. RBPD
3. Hollister’s Erzsebettelepi Petrik at Hollichi (IMP HUN) TAF
Puppy Dog (3,2)
1. Jones’ Flickan Faraway
10 m/o fawn and white dog developing well. Head okay, large flared ears amply feathered. Straight forelegs, forechest still developing. Neck well arched and of good length, back level. Correct turn of stifle with hocks well apart. Tail set a touch low but carried up and over with confidence. Moved okay.
Junior Dog (1,0)
1. Holmes’ Baralicia Huntsman at Teclo
16 m/o honest fawn sable dog. Attractive head with all features balanced. Good bone, straight forelegs set well under chest with shoulders well laid. Level back with tail set on high. Balanced front to back with correct turn of stifle. Finished in good coat. Would just like a bit more oomph from him.
Novice Dog (1,0)
1. Bradshaw’s Kechua Lightning Flash
2 y/o red sable male who may have preferred to be at home today. Typical head, skull well rounded with large eyes. Front a touch wide. Ample length of neck with level backline, tail set well and of good length. Adequate bend to stifle. Unfortunately seemed to be overawed today.
Post Graduate Dog (3,1)
1. Martin’s Leathea’s Rockstar DJ
3 y/o attractive cream dog. Head amply domed with large ears set at ten to two. Forelegs straight. Level back with sickle tail carried up and over at all times. Correct rear with good turn of stifle and hocks well apart. Moved out well - his boy really knows his job.
2. Culverhouse’s Lykath’s Anduril JW
19 m/o typey red dog. Well domed skull with round eyes and definite stop. Sufficient lay of shoulder. Level back with sickle tail of good length with most lovely plume, correctly off square. Okay rear. Another I would just like a bit more enthusiasm from.
Limit Dog (4,2)
1. Barker’s Mocha Vanilla Baralicia JW
22 m/o balanced fawn and white dog. Skull well domed with appealing expression. Well developed front assembly with straight forelegs, ribs well sprung. Off square in proportions, enough substance without coarseness. Well muscled hindquarters, stifles well bent. Moved freely fore and aft, holding his topline throughout. Just the right amount of coat. This boy is so well balanced and really presents a lovely picture. BD & RBOB
2. Hicks’ Torre Del Pilar Sandman at Casiatodo (IMP ESP)
2 y/o black and tan dog with lots to like. Delightful head piece. Straight forelegs, brisket deep. Back is level, sickle tail set and carried well. Sufficient turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Moved briskly. Compact boy with adequate bone. Pushed hard in the challenge for RBD but not quite on form when called back in.
Open Dog (5,0)
1. Lee’s Jahneemahs Eye Candy
2 y/o compact fawn dog. Attractive head, muzzle moderately short. Correct front assembly with well laid shoulders and straight forelegs. Ribs are well sprung and brisket deep. Good bend of stifle with hocks well let down. On the move he was up for it, holding his sickle tail over back throughout. RBD
2. Stangoe’s Stanghurst Top Gun
3 y/o red dog of nice type. Good head with lean jaw and cheeks, most typical of expressions. Well built in front, feet neither in nor out. Neck of ample length with level back. Tail is set high and of sickle shape. Good turn of stifle. Moved out okay but lost his outline at times.
3. Hicks’ Torre Del Pilar Kingsman at Casiatodo (IMP ESP)
Veteran Dog (5,1)
1. Lee’s Ridgehawk Freds Legacy
9 y/o red and white dog in lovely condition. Classic head piece with well rounded skull. Well assembled forequarters with good lay of shoulder. Neck well arched, backline level and sickle tail full as a plume. Good bend of stifle and hocks well let down. Takes his time on the move but at this age he can afford to. BVD & BVIB
2. Dee’s Come Back Home to Lowechi
7 y/o sable dog enjoying his day out. Attractive head with saucy expression. Forelegs straight with good depth to brisket. Level back with tail set on high. Ample turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Off square in proportions, dainty as should be. Had lots of fun moving around the ring.
3. Craggs’ Reynoldco Sweet William
Baby Puppy Bitch (3,0)
1. Hollister’s Frapachi Harley Raye at Hollichi TAF
5 m/o fawn bitch. Sound youngster looking promising at this age. Typical head with correct expression, ears large. Front developing well. Level back, ample turn of stifle. Tail wagging throughout. BBPIB
2. Jones’ Flickan Frosty Fields
5 m/o fawn bitch. Sweet expression with good length to muzzle. Sound assembly with front developing well, rear well angulated. Back is level and tail of sickle shape. Small and dainty. Not quite as mature as 1.
3. Jones’ Flickan Firmament
Minor Puppy Bitch (1,0)
1. Prinzi’s Lollymoos True Delight
6 m/o black and tan bitch enjoying her day out. Pretty head with large ears and round eyes. Front developing well with ample spring to ribs, compact with good bone.
Hindquarters well angulated with correct turn of stifle. Tail set and carried a touch low. Had lots of fun moving around the ring. BPB & RBPIB
Puppy Bitch (1,0)
1. Holmes’ Misty Meadow’s Holly Golightly at Teclo (IMP ITA)
9 m/o sable bitch who had great appeal. Most impressive of head pieces - well rounded skull, definite stop and large flared ears with eyes set on correct plane. Developing well in front, hindquarters well angulated. Correctly off square with level back, dainty in profile. Unfortunately overawed today which cost her higher awards. RBPB
Junior Bitch (9,3)
1. Jones’ Flickan Angie’s Spirit
14 m/o cream bitch with lots to like. Appealing head with well rounded skull, good length to muzzle. Well assembled forequarters with forelegs set well under chest. Neck is of good length and back level. Ample turn of stifle. Her balance front to back allowed brisk movement with good reach and drive. Dainty across the board and finished with just the right amount of coat, heavily considered in the challenge.
2. Barker’s Baralicia Jenny Wren
16 m/o honest red bitch. Classic head with large ears, saucy expression. Correct front assembly with shoulders well laid. Neck is of medium length and back level, sickle tail set high and held over back throughout. Good turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Moved well fore and aft. On the day I just preferred the overall picture of 1.
3. Smith’s Pappersley Chomolungma
Novice Bitch (6,4)
1. Jones’ Flickan Angie’s Spirit
See previous class.
2. Dee’s Une Perle Noire De L’Isle Au Vert Coteau Lowenchi
20 m/o black and tan bitch who was quite the character. Head is well domed and muzzle moderately short. Shoulders well laid with deep brisket, good spring to rib. Compact with
body off square. Ample turn of stifle, has a tendency to sit under herself at times. Happy mover.
Post Graduate Bitch (6,1)
1. Holland-Smith’s Kirdanchi Le Ballet Giselle JW
22 m/o cream bitch in good coat. Pretty head with definite stop and slightly pointed muzzle. Forelegs set well under chest allowing freedom of movement. Neck of good length, back level. Good turn of stifle, feet small and dainty. Moved briskly with good reach and drive, carrying tail up and over throughout.
2. Barber’s Flickan Fleurette at Ramrowan
22 m/o dainty fawn and white bitch. Pleasing head with lean cheeks and jaw, ears large and flared. Well muscled forequarters, ample spring of rib. Neck of good length. Sufficient turn of stifle with hocks well apart.
3. Holmes’ Teclo Kalsu
Limit Bitch (3,0)
The strongest class of the day with three pleasing bi***es.
1. Entwistle’s Dorenty Textututango
15 m/o cream bitch whom I have gone over before - she only keeps getting better. Most feminine of headpieces with melting expression. Front is well developed with sufficient depth to brisket, forelegs straight. Neck is of medium length leading to level back, sickle tail as full as a plume carried up and over throughout. Hocks well let down and apart, stifles well bent. Moves soundly both ways, holding her top line. Her awards today were most deserved. BB & BOB
2. Fothergill & Hunt’s Caballie Madame Barbie JW
Almost 2 y/o stylish cream bitch. Attractive head with well rounded skull, large eyes set on correct plane. Good front assembly with shoulders well laid, ample spring of rib. Well muscled hindquarters with nice turn of stifle, feet neither in nor out. Level topline and sickle tail held throughout. Brisk mover who wants to go go go, just needs to compose herself at times. RBB
3. Jones’ Flickan Flapjack JW
Open Bitch (2,0)
1. Entwistle’s CH Dorenty’s Heidi Hi
5 y/o quality fawn bitch. Attractive head with saucy expression. Forelegs sat well under chest with shoulders well laid, ribs amply sprung. Nice length of neck, off square in proportion. Good rear with stifles well bent and hocks let down. Sickle tail used throughout. Moved out okay at a brisk pace.
2. Holmes’ Baralicia Elsa at Teclo
3 y/o honest fawn bitch who had left her coat at home today. Apple domed skull with large ears used to advantage. Well made in front with good lay of shoulder. Tail is set on high and of sickle shape, level topline held throughout. Would like a touch more turn of stifle to finish the picture.
Veteran Bitch (3,0)
A close class indeed.
1. Cragg’s Reynoldco Sweet Dreams JW
9 y/o sable and white bitch looking well for her age. Classic head, well rounded skull with saucy expression. Forelegs are straight and set well under the chest with shoulders well laid. Ribs well sprung, turn of stifle okay. She was up for it on the move, clearly enjoying her time in the ring, but lost her topline at times which swayed me towards the Veteran Dog Winner in the challenge. BVB & RBVIB
2. Holland-Smith’s Oozora Queen of Mystery JW
7 y/o sound red sable bitch. Expressive head, moderately short muzzle with slight point. Forequarters well made with correct lay of shoulder. Back line level with high set sickle tail. Hindquarters well muscled with good turn of stifle. Presented in lovely condition.
3. Stangoe’s Mona Liza Ot Vanilnoy Luny at Stanghurst (IMP RUS)
