The RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre is situated in the countryside with lovely sea views and surrounded by open fields and woodland, which provide a wonderful location for the rehabilitation and physical enjoyment of the animals. You will find us near Colwyn Bay in Conwy, North Wales, just off the B5113 Llanwrst Road, and a short drive from the A55 coastal road. What we do

We provide specialist

care for domestic and farm animals, and we often treat wildlife before release or transfer to dedicated wildlife centres. We spend a considerable amount of time with our animals getting to know them so that we can assess the kind of home and lifestyle they need. Then, when they are ready, we make every effort to find them a suitable home. Rehoming

At any one time we are caring for over 100 animals at the centre. Our animals are looking for someone to offer them a loving home, to be a friend and look after them. Funding

It costs the RSPCA over £1,300 a day to run Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre. We rely entirely on kind donations from people like you. If you would like to support us, or you have room in your home and in your heart to take on a rescue animal, please pay us a visit. If you would like to contribute in other ways, we also operate a volunteer programme and foster scheme. We look forward to seeing you. Regards

Here at BYM we have female chinese hamsters looking for their furever homes 🐾

These gorgeous little girls have sadly been removed from a multi animal property after being kept in very poor conditions. Despite their ordeal they are all confident to be handled and love their new cages with lots of toys, hides & enrichment.

Chinese hamsters are nocturnal, meaning they sleep by day and are awake at night. But they sometimes might wake up during the day to eat and move around for a short time.

💕 Rehoming requirement -
They will need to be housed in a 80cm x 40cm cage
They will need to be housed on their own as they are a solitaire species
Suitable bedding materials are: tissue paper, shredded paper, megazorb, kaytee (Please avoid wood shavings and fluffy style bedding due to potential health issues)
They will need lots of toys, hides & additional enrichment items and a 25cm wheel

🏠 Adoption Appeal - McKenzie and Pea

🧡 McKenzie is a gorgeous boy who is searching for his special someone. Kenzie loves trundles around out site and is getting more and more confident with going in and out of the car 🚗 McKenzie could live with another dog as he enjoys playtime with dogs which are calmer 🐶 McKenzie is a C**n Hound cross so is expected to eventually grow into those floppy ears of his when fully grown 🐘

🩷 Pea is a lovely girlie who will do anything for a snuggle and a snooze 💤 She would adore having her own secure garden to gallop around in and would need to be the only animal in the home but could make some dog friends to walk with in the future 🩷 Pea adores company and would love to find her forever home before her 2nd birthday 🎂

Meet Morticia and Gomez, an adorable 4-month-old bonded pair of kittens ready to find their forever home! ❤

These two are typical kittens through and through, full of mischievous charm, endless curiosity, and boundless energy. 😻

While they've had a bit of a shy start due to limited positive interactions with humans during their crucial socialization period, they are making incredible progress!

Thanks to the devotion of one of our wonderful fosterers, Morticia and Gomez are truly coming on leaps and bounds in confidence. 💖

They are still a little timid around touch and will blossom best in a gentle, quiet home where they can continue to thrive at their own pace.

If you have the patience and love to help these sweet kittens continue to grow into confident companions, they will undoubtedly bring so much joy to your life!

Frank is incredibly affectionate and sweet, with a wonderfully laid-back personality. He's a quiet boy who can find new situations a little overwhelming at first, but he's quick to find his feet and settle in. Once you've formed a bond with Frank, he promises to be a friend for life! 💖

He could happily live with a calm dog and/or children aged 11 and over. Frank has never lived with another cat and would likely prefer to be the only feline in his new home.

🐾SPECIAL APPEAL🐾

Meet our super friendly boys Bungle & George. These cheeky chappies were sadly left at the side of the road but lucky enough they were found and brought to BYM. Despite the ordeal these two are inquisitive, friendly and full of fun.
They have spent some time in a foster home and would make fantastic family pets for children on 8+. George (grey) in particular loves to interact and will quite happily sit on your hand whereas Bungle (brown) is much more adventurous although he will sit on your hand as long as you have tasty treats.

🥰 Rehoming requirements🥰
Bungle & George are looking for a home that is either a glass tank or a glass tank bottom with a wire frame above. It will need to be around 50cm high. We would advise to avoid plastic based cages as gerbils have the ability to chew through them very easily.

They will need to be provided with a variety of chew toys to gnaw on daily and an exercise wheel.

They will also need soft bedding material between 20 - 30 cm deep within their new enclosure to dig & burrow. We would advise to avoid fluffy style bedding and also sawdust due to health issues that may arise. Shredded paper, hay & tissue paper style bedding is suitable.

Our small animal unit staff will be happy to provide guidance and support with accommodation enquiries and any other queries over the phone or through email

🫛 Adoption Appeal 🐶 - Sweet Pea

This sweetie is ... Sweet Pea 💚 Quite like her name, this sweet girl is still looking for her forever family 💚 Sweetie has met many potential homes at the centre but just hasn't found her someone yet ❤️‍🩹 we are hoping that the powers of Facebook will catch her new families eye

Pea loves zooming about and is looking for a secure garden with 6 foot fencing to stretch those long legs of hers 💚 after a quick 10 minute run about, Pea is ready to snuggle 💤 and would love watching some daytime tele on the couch with a cuppa ☕ Sweet Pea walks well on a secure harness and lead and does like to take her time sniffing about when on her walks 🍂

Pea has spent her entire life in RSPCA care and is coming up to her second birthday. We would love for her to find her forever home before she blows her birthdaycandles out 🎂

🏡 HAPPY ENDING 🏡

Little Matcha came into our care after being abandoned with his siblings, and sadly was very scared of humans. After some TLC from our staff and volunteers, Matcha built confidence to be around humans but was still very wary of touch. This is where his perfect forever family came in!

Matcha quickly settled in and seems to have become a new cat! He has developed in confidence and is falling in love with his new home and family. 💖

"I thought it'd be nice to give a quick update on Matcha after his second day with us! He's been amazingly confident, exploring every inch of his room with and without us in there with him. He's started tentatively asking for pets and cuddles today and has been purring like mad. We're amazed at how well he seems to be settling given that he was quite shy when we first met him, hoping he continues to settle himself in and make himself at home with us. We already feel very blessed to have him join our little family ❤️"

Matcha's happy ending story really shows us how important it is for cats to find their homes and develop outside of the cattery environment as quickly as possible, as sadly, they can become very stressed and overwhelmed within a cattery. ❤️‍🩹

🐰 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION🐰

Meet our loveable english spot lop Jeremiah who came into our care as part of a welfare concern.

Jeremiah is an independent boy who enjoys spending his time relaxed, watching the world go by in our small animal unit. He does enjoy small spurts of interaction from our staff and volunteers and will accept a head rub when he is comfortable. Jeremiah does enjoy his food and we have found this has helped with building his confidence and establishing a relationship with the staff and volunteers.

We feel Jeremiah would really benefit from living with a gentle, friendly female rabbit.
We also feel that Jeremiah would equally be hoppy living either indoors or outdoors provided he is given plenty of space, hides, tunnels and toys to keep him entertained.
Our minimum requirement for a pair is 3m x 2m x 1m (our SAU staff will be happy to discuss suitable accommodations)
