Sorry guys - this is a long one! đ
We are all feeling quite tired this week after 3 losses in the last 3 weeks, cats we had tried to help the same day we heard about them or little Cuckoo who had only been with us a short time.
Not only that, we have been absolutely battered by vet bills.
Oliver, who came in with a wound on his leg just over a month ago, has struggled to get better. His wound may have been caused by a pellet gun or something quite sharp as itâs not healing easily.
He was living in a pile of rubbish (seen in pics) and was at risk of fly strike. Due to the ongoing issues with his wound and repeated antibiotics, we are left with a large bill as seen in pictures.
He has struggled to get used to being with humans but has shown promise with his foster mum with some loves at times but he really needs to recover fully so we can get to know the real Oliver.
Then thereâs Isla. Isla was surrendered urgently after her owner had to move quickly and she was such a well loved family pet with it being a hard goodbye.
She started having breathing difficulties 3 days ago caused by some irritation in her throat. Vets think she may have swallowed a wasp as it came on quickly. She had to be hospitalised for 3 days (see her pictures in the vets) and was in and out of an oxygen tent with X-rays showing her chest was clear so no long term issues. This came at a cost of around ÂŁ1000 and we will get the invoice tomorrow with the bill being due on the same day- funds we just donât have. She still isnât completely right but is with a fantastic foster family who are keeping a close eye on her. Isnât she adorable? đ
Lastly, Dudley, who is a boy with FELV who we have had in long term foster for nearly 2 years is extremely poorly. He is now in London with a very loving foster family and has been doing so well up until now. When he first came to us, he was very sick with a swollen mouth and unable to eat. He was nursed back to health and given a chance.
Now, nearly 2 years on, he has gone off his food and bloods have shown low white blood cells and issues with his liver. He needs further tests to determine what is going on with ÂŁ360 already spent. We are hoping itâs nothing serious as he absolutely deserves to keep living his best life.
We only just covered last monthâs bill and we hate asking but we have to ask for help because the cats need us.
Every tag, every message or picture seen online of a cat in need leaves us so worried and heartbroken that we donât have the space and funds to help.
Some people think itâs easy as they are desperately in need and itâs only âone more cat.â One more cat could break us right now and thatâs not clever rescuing. Thatâs careless and inconsiderate to the cats we have here.
We need to get Isla and Oliverâs bills paid and Dudley sorted before we can even consider helping anyone else and thatâs a harsh reality that is difficult to sit with. For every no we have to say, the thought of the cats we canât help right now doesnât leave our minds.
Just know, we are doing our very best but we are feeling pretty overwhelmed over here.
We will keep fighting and will be doing more car boots, giveaways and sharing the cats we have ready for adoption to try and improve this situation but for now - please keep supporting us if you can.
Thank you so much for everything you all do to help đ
