Pablo the 10 week old Parson Russell Terrier came into our Pontefract Branch for his 1st vaccinations.

He was cuddling with Shannon our Animal Handler before his appointment. 🥰

He’s ready & looking forward to go exploring the world with his owners! 🌍

Sadly we have had a deceased cat brought in by a member of the public. Adult female semi-longhaired tortoiseshell with no microchip. Found at the side of the road by the Fox and Hounds Pub in Thorpe Audlin in Pontefract.

Xavier, the 9 month old Bull Mastiff, came to visit us at our Pontefract Branch for the spots that appeared all over his body, they’re now being treated and he will revisit us soon to check they have cleared! He was very brave and was a lovely boy😊

✨ July 10th is National Kitten Day ✨

This national day is celebrated every year to try and promote the adoption of kittens in animal shelters as well as celebrating the love and care between humans and our little kittens! ❤️

We absolutely love when beautiful kittens come into the practice, in the photo we have just a few that we have seen recently🐱

Lily came in to our Castleford branch for restart vaccines after having a different brand of vaccine for her first. Lily can have a big adult walk in a week avoiding areas with high consumption of rats☺️

🍫World Chocolate Day 🍫

This day was dedicated to appreciating the world’s most popular treat in the world. The celebration is believed to mark the day when chocolate was first introduced to Europe back in 1550.
We then started to celebrate this day every year on the 7th of July from back in 2009.

People love chocolate as a treat and love sharing treats with their pets but chocolate contains a chemical compound called theobromine which is toxic for cats and dogs.

‼️ If your dog or cat has eaten chocolate. Please ring the practice urgently to be able to be seen and for your pet to vomit up the chocolate.

Pet Remembrance Day is dedicated to honouring & remembering our deceased pets. Today is a day for us pet owners to reflect on the joy and companionship our beloved pets brought into our lives and to share memories of them.

🌱 Grass seed season has definitely arrived! We’re seeing more patients come in with grass seeds in various places, so make sure you’re checking your pets regularly for grass seeds especially if they like to run in long grass!

Due to their pointy end, grass seeds can easily pierce skin, enter the body and travel around causing issues such as abscesses and infection. Should you find a grass seed stuck in your dog, please contact the practice as they need to be removed quickly!

🐈 Ginger was seen by our lovely vet Karen on Wednesday and had a grass seed removed from his eye. The grass seed in his eye sadly caused an eye ulcer which is now being treated. Ginger was very brave throughout!
