First day out for the gundogs today. Delighted to get my old cocker dog (almost 13) out to pick a few birds given that we didn’t expect him to still be here ❤️

No rest though, there is more sniffing to be done and our 6pm - 8pm Mantrailing session is about to begin!

Usually when we talk about ‘distractions along the trail’ we’re referring to all the crazy things our DOGS have to work through - olfactory, visual and auditory distractions on the whole, thousands of them.
Today, it was the HANDLER who had to work through their greatest distraction!

Here’s Helen, our knitter extraordinaire, trailing along a delightful corridor of wool! So excited she was that her right hand came off the line!

Little homebred Dove & I are away doing something cool this week. We’ll reveal all later in the year but it’s certainly reminded me that being true to who you are and what you love, live and breathe is truly important. And if you can use that to spread a bit of passion and to help others then you’re winning.

It doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing or how much noise they’re making about it. And you definitely can’t stuff a square peg in a round hole, some of us are just different and we should celebrate it.
Be you, stay true and absolutely shout about what you’re good at.
Time to start shouting about it. ❤️

If you are waiting to hear back from us please bear with, will be back in touch as soon as possible providing I survive the next 4 nights sleeping in a tent in Wales in late September which seemed a good idea at the time! That’s the sort of thing proper girls do I reckon 😉 💪🏼

📣 Exciting announcement! 📣

On behalf of our lost dog tracking friends we are excited to share the below announcement and look forward to being involved in this exciting development ☺️

As part of the Lost Dog Tracking Network, we are setting up a tracking group to cover Herefordshire & the mid Wales Borders!
As you may know, we already have 3 accredited handlers in the area - Ruth with Gin & Tia, Emma with Damson & Myrtle & Sarah with Bash – so are looking to increase the team so that we can widen the area of coverage & help more dogs.
The LDTN works in conjunction with a number of other volunteer groups including Drone SAR, trapping & ground search teams focused on helping owners find their missing dogs - & occasionally other species such as tortoise!
Training with Claire Brown, the founder of the Lost Dog Tracking Network, is booked for 2026 (February, April, October) in the Ledbury area. Check out the FB page (link below) for more information.

Unforeseen circumstances mean that we have last minute availability on our Long Trails Day in Malvern on Tuesday.
⭐️ 9:30 start
⭐️ Pub lunch
⭐️ Navigate your way with your dog at the helm through alleyways, residential areas and open space for a kilometre followed by a second trail after lunch.

Trails in excess of 600m and up to 1km - you will have 2 long trails at this session. We will base the trail length on what is appropriate for you individual dog and how well they are coping with the work load.

We hit the town on Monday evening visiting one of our favourite trailing spots…..and that’s not just because there was a 10 second walk to Waitrose to purchase wine and a delicious food stall open in the street, honestly! 😳

What a cool collection of breeds - Bertie the Airedale, Mayhem the Whippet, Greg the Dachshund, Humphrey the Lakeland. All bred historically for vermin control these breeds have deep rooted working genetics and Mantrailing enables us to satisfy their innate drives that don’t just disappear because they are pets.
A dog with a job is a happy dog. Never forget, all dogs were bred for purpose, we need to honour and respect that. ❤️

LEVEL ONE IN THE BAG!

Congratulations to Holly & Gregory on achieving their L1! Our lovely team were tasked with locating their trail layer in a wide open windy space yesterday with some big old trees dotted about and plenty of distracting sights and sniffs.

There’s no denying that these guys have really put the hours in. Top work team!

Big thanks to our trail layer Debs for sitting out for us, very much appreciated.

Yesterday we had lots of fun running a ‘Taster Day’ at satchssnacks_naturaldogtreats where we were lucky enough to meet 20 fabulous dogs and their lovely handlers for a real crash course which covered some Mantrailing theory, a demo and trail for each new team.
A big thank you to the wonderful ladies who gave up their time to help out - you were amazing, to satchssnacks_naturaldogtreats for holding the event and to everyone who came along!
We’ll see you all soon!

🌿 Mantrailing at Castlemorton Common 🌿

Yesterday's session was a fantastic mix of challenge and teamwork as four teams joined us to trail across the beautiful Castlemorton Common. With trail layers taking paths through ferns and grass, and even the occasional curious sheep 🐑, each dog put their nose to work, sometimes using the information on the ground and sometimes from the air! It was really great to see this in action.

Some teams embraced the open space to push their limits with longer trails — brilliant for building endurance and focus. Others focused on motivation and laying strong foundations for future success. Both approaches were spot-on and vital to well-rounded training. 👃🐾

Great work from all the dogs and handlers — it’s always a pleasure to see progress and passion on the trail!

Yesterday’s session at was brilliant — it’s a venue that never disappoints!

We had so much fun, and some of us (cough Jack) even took an unexpected dip in the lake while trying to track down the trail layer! 💦 ... and some of us (cough Lucy) tried to join a Yoga class and show everyone how to do the downward dog! 🐕 😆

We also want to give an extra special shout out to one of our Mantrailing family — huge congratulations to Reece Reading and Rhian Reading on becoming parents for the first time! Welcome to the world, baby Alice 💕 — our newest (and tiniest!) future trail layer or budding mantrailing dog handler. We can’t wait to see her on the trails one day!
