Welcome to my page, I have had quite a few followers so thought I would introduce myself and a little about what I do.
I have been an equine vet for nearly 15 years(!), working in general practice and in equine hospitals both the UK and Australia. I have focussed much of my time on reproductive medicine, especially embryo transfer- hopefully making some of the stars of the future! I love it now that some of my embryos are out competing and winning at National and International level- its hard to believe they were in my Petri dish once upon a time when you see them out competing!
My interest in acupuncture started around 8 years ago when one of my colleagues used it successfully to treat fluid retention in mares. I then received a treatment myself, I found it really helpful for chronic pain relief and wanted to learn more. I trained with the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists and found it absolutely fascinating. I had spent so much time looking at poor performance in horses, and although I am a firm believer in conventional veterinary meidince I felt something was missing- and this was it! I have been lucky enough to work with a huge variety of horses since then, from top competition horses, to racehorses, much loved pony club ponies, retired horses and everything in between. I have seen the beneficial effects first-hand, and since continued with further study into the science behind Acupuncture.
Follow this page for more information on this ever-growing treatment modality which is not only tolerated by but usually actually enjoyed by horses!
