When I first started Homemade For Pets, I was just a teen in my kitchen, testing out healthy rabbit treat recipes for my own buns 💛. The first batch was simple (and a little messy 😅)… but I knew I wanted to make something better than what I could find in shops.

Fast forward to today ➡️ our treats are enjoyed by bunnies all across the UK, carefully handmade with natural, rabbit-safe ingredients 🌿.

It’s been such a journey — and I’m so grateful for every bunny parent who’s supported along the way 🐇💛.

Here are 3 ingredients you should always avoid when choosing snacks for your furry friend 🐇💛

1️⃣ Added sugars – things like molasses, honey, or yogurt drops may sound tasty but can upset a rabbit’s delicate digestion and cause weight gain.
2️⃣ Artificial colours & flavours – bunnies don’t need bright colours or fake flavours. These additives are just for humans, not for rabbits!
3️⃣ Seeds, nuts & corn – often added as fillers in treats, but they’re difficult for rabbits to digest and can cause serious health issues.

Here are 3 easy ways to keep your bun happy and healthy this autumn:

1️⃣ Extra Hay = Extra Cosy
Hay keeps bunnies warm, supports digestion, and helps wear down teeth naturally. Offer plenty and top up daily.

2️⃣ Safe Autumn Forage
Bring a little seasonal variety! Try apple twigs, hawthorn branches, or dried plantain leaves — all safe and loved by bunnies.

3️⃣ Warm & Dry Housing
If your bun lives outdoors, make sure their hutch or shed is dry, draught-free, and well insulated. Damp and cold can cause illness.
