We have 2 spaces left on this Sundays workshop, and two left for Sunday 3rd August.

Feedback from our last workshop:

“Although I’ve done movement and meditation courses before, I’ve never experienced something quite as special as this - I learnt to connect with my body in a totally new way. Sharing space with the horses was so peaceful, and I felt like I was able to reach them on an entirely different level - as an equal, feeling being. It was a truly joyful and rewarding day.”

Please get in contact to book, original advert below.

Come and join us for a journey through creative expression, authentic dance, nature inspiration, and equine connections.
This is an outdoor movement workshop in which we will learn about responding to nature, the horses, and ourselves, cultivating connection, balance, improvisation and flow.
The day will be led by Facilitator Marie Lou, who is a multidisciplinary artist rooted in dance, movement, creative health and wellbeing, and who has undertaken a transformative journey with horses.

We will connect with nature and the horses, alongside exploring movement, our senses, and our body's capabilities. We will involve self awareness practices, such as mindfulness, sensory awareness and breathing techniques. We will also explore how to allow ourselves creative self expression, whether it be through dance, art, movement, writing, song or more.
We will have a maximum of 6 participants, to ensure the group is small and personal. No horse experience needed, adults only workshop.

Equine Elements will host the day, with the Herd and Alice also facilitating alongside Marie Lou.
Alice may not have much experience with movement as such, (although is fascinated by the science of it!) however she has extensive experience with horsemanship and horse human connection, and movement for the benefit of the horse.
The horses are, of course, incredibly sensitive and body aware. They are the most authentic movers out there!

The cost for the day is on a sliding scale of £75-£90

Timmy is on holiday! (and therefore me too of course!)

We are looking forward to a restful time in the sun by the sea, self care and down time is so important. This trip is a little over due, but we're here now!

The horses are in capable hands (thank you Sophie and Jo!) and they are also having a rest and a quiet week.

Happy Summer Solstice from all at Equine Elements ☀️

We have had absolutely scorching weather for this summer solstice, which has meant lots of chilling in the woods for the horses, (and sadly some cancelled sessions!)
The horses are so good at knowing what they need, and just doing it, honouring what their body and herd needs in that moment. Water, shade, stillness and relaxation have been the main features of this week.

This summer we are running a Equine Facilitated Learning group for adults, exploring creative health and wellbeing through working with horses and understanding horsemanship.

In these sessions we will explore themes such as self regulation, emotional awareness, self compassion, team building, confidence building, body awareness, movement, using our voice and lots more. We will also learn about the horses, who they are, their needs and how they live.

Sessions will be led by Equine Learning Facilitator Alice Short, and movement and wellbeing facilitator Marie-Louise Flexen .

Alice has lots of experience in working with horses to help humans, and also in ethical, species appropriate horsemanship, horse care and training.

Marie Lou is a multidisciplinary artist who works with movement and creativity, with a special interest in wellbeing and resilience.

Thursday evenings 6-8pm throughout the summer holidays (first July 24th, last August 28th)

No horse experience needed.
The group size will be small, (with a maximum of 8 participants)
Cost is £35-50 on a sliding scale, please pay as you can afford. (This is per person per session).

Sessions are run every Thursday evening through the summer holidays, and the commitment is to sign up for all 6 sessions.

Hi everyone,

Asking for help and support please.

I'm Alice. Pictured here with my horse Troy, the one who started it all and changed my life. Equine Elements is my dream, horses helping people heal. We are a therapeutic centre on the outskirts of Stroud, that provides healing work through horses for children and adults, as well as ethical horsemanship and riding. It is my passion, my lifelong ambition and it has huge positive impacts on people's lives. A recent quote from a young person: “you and the horses have helped me more than anyone else, thank you. I wish I could have more sessions”

We are currently putting in a planning application for our permanent site (office, toilet, horse shelter, drive and change of land use to equestrian business).
As some of you may know we have been having massive struggles with our planning application, which has led to huge costs and it taking a lot longer than anticipated.
We are now submitting all of the extra surveys and documents that the planning authority have requested, for the applications final review.

Please please can we try and have as many supportive comments as possible, if you have already done this thank you! But could you ask family, friends, neighbours, to submit a comment too? Anything that shows support, eg the vital need for mental health provisions, the growing number of children struggling at school, the need for nature based activities, the need for local rural businesses, and that we are environmentally aware and have done everything that has been asked for for the application. All the documents related to the application are viewable to anyone via the planning portal, if you have any questions please ask.

We won't be able to continue our life changing work with a refused planning application. We really value your support, thank you. ❤️🐴

The link is below, and the planning application ref is S.24/1822/FUL or search Yokehouse lane, please share far and wide.

You can submit a comment via the planning portal, or if that doesn't work, email to [email protected]

https://publicaccess.stroud.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=SL1HQGPNKSB00

Please note that the screen will 'time-out' after 30mins and your comment will not be saved. If submitting lengthy comments, it is recommended that you compose your comments in another software package such as Notepad or Word and paste them into the Your Comment box.

We have had some very sad news, in that the lovely Tiffin has had to move homes, as she has developed asthma. It was most likely that she has always had underlying asthma or the potential of developing it, and that the dry weather plus a very high pollen count this year has set it off.

Hay is often a trigger for horses with asthma, and as that is what the herd are fed, myself and Tiffin's person Sue came to the difficult decision that this means our current set up isn't safe for her.

We will greatly miss Tiffin and Sue, they might have only been here 6 months, but they'd become such a part of the herd and team ❤️

Thank you so much Tiffin for all you brought to the herd and to clients, and thank you Sue for sharing your wonderful horse with us ❤️

Tiffin is settling in well to her new field, this picture shows her on her last day with us, learning to take her inhaler with Sue!

Happy 8th birthday Cyra!

Cyra had some X rays done last month, just to check the joints in her hind legs, as although she's been doing really well, I just wanted to make sure as much as I can that she is comfortable, before continuing with more exercise and possibly riding (only things that she is happy with of course!)

The X rays showed slight remodelling of some bones in her hock joint (the 'knee' of the back leg) which is probably very mild arthritis. To help with this, Cyra had some steroid injections which will take down inflammation and therefore reduce pain, which means I can continue with Cyra's rehab and hopefully she can get as fit and strong as she can, which will then help keep her joints healthy!

I am also looking into what supplements will help her and support her joints.

This underlying discomfort may also have been the cause of Cyra's ulcers, as well as probably stress from her past life and changes she's experienced.

Please ask any questions about Cyra's health and journey so far! She is so wonderful and I'm so lucky to have her in my life. Her complexity is teaching me so much, and I'm honoured to be her person.

Happy 24th birthday Troy!

You are the rock of the herd, so strong and steady, always there, always kind and funny.

You have taught so many people so much.

11 years ago today you came into my life, I remember waiting all morning for you to arrive, and life would change forever. You were the start of it all Troy 💚

Happy Earth day 🌎🌍 🌱🍂🪻🪶

Our site Frith Field is so important in our work, providing a safe, held, and peaceful space for people to explore and heal, as well as a safe, fun, and enriching home for our Herd.

We value our home immensely, and are committed to looking after it for the good of itself, the surrounding area, and the world.

We've been planting some new hedges, which will benefit the resident bats and dormice (and the horses too!). Everything is starting to green and grow, and we are very grateful for the rain after that long dry spell.

Apologies for the accidental quiet month on the Equine Elements socials, it's been a bit busy and lots to think about with the planning application which is still ongoing.

☀️ 🌸
