*UPDATE - he has been reunited with his owner 🥰 thank you all for sharing!

This lovely boy has been brought into us by a member of the public, with an injury to his back leg. He is microchipped and was found in the Mayhill area. We have made several attempts to contact the owner, but have unfortunately been unsuccessful. Please contact us if you think he is your cat 🐈‍⬛ hopefully we can get him reunited 🐾

Furballs, also knows as trichobezoars, commonly occur in cats resulting from their grooming habits. They can be more common during warmer months, due to cats moulting. When cats groom, they swallow loose hair, which can accumulate in the stomach and form a furball. While usually harmless, they can sometimes cause issues if they don't pass through the digestive system naturally, either being vomited up or passed in the faeces.
You can reduce the risk of furballs by regularly brushing your cat, to help remove the loose hair. There are products available which lubricate the digestive tract and aid the passage of hair.
Common signs include retching, loss of appetite, lethargy, constipation or diarrhoea and coughing. If you suspect a furball is causing any health problems, contact the practice 🐱🐾

July is UV awareness month ☀️
To protect our feline friends from harmful UV rays, which can cause sunburn, we recommend to provide shaded areas in the garden and limit outdoor time during peak sun hours. You can also use pet safe sun screen on vulnerable areas such as ears and nose, especially for cats with white fur in these areas.
Ensure cats always have access to fresh water and you could even consider cooling mats, to make them more comfortable.
